Ashkan Sahihi (born 27 November 1963) is an Iranian-American photographer known for his unique photographic series as well as for numerous portraits of important public figures. Life and work Born in Tehran, Iran, Ashkan Sahihi moved with his family to West Germany at the age of seven. Although he began taking photographs as a teenager, Sahihi traces the beginning of his professional trajectory to New York City in 1987, a thriving "pop culture metropolis" where he could do the kind of photography work that he wanted to do, exploring the underbelly of the society around him. Occupy Wall Street
Occupy Wall Street (OWS) was a protest movement against economic inequality and the influence of money in politics that began in Zuccotti Park, located in New York City's Wall Street financial district, in September 2011. It gave rise to the wider Occupy movement in the United States and other countries. The Canadian anti-consumerist magazine Adbusters initiated the call for a protest. The main issues raised by Occupy Wall Street were social and economic inequality, greed, corruption and the undue influence of corporations on government—particularly from the financial services sector.
