''Ashes'' is Kyla La Grange's debut album. It was produced by Brett Shaw at 123 Studios in East London, with two tracks produced by Marky Bates and was released on 30 July 2012. All songs were written by La Grange, except "Love You Better" which is a cover of The Maccabbes song from the album Wall of Arms. "Been Better" was released as the album's lead single on 10 July 2011 with "Courage" as its B-Side. "Heavy Stone" was released as the second single on 16 October 2011 with "Lambs" as its B-Side. "Vampire Smile" was released as the third single on 12 February 2012 with the non-album track "Cold Favours" as its B-Side. "Walk through Walls" was released as the fourth single on 20 July 2012 with her cover of "Love You Better" as its B-Side. "Been Better" was re-released on 11 November 2012 with "To Be Torn" and the non-album track "Erased" as its B-Sides. Kyla La Grange
Kyla La Grange (born 25 July 1986) is an English singer and songwriter from Watford, England. Career Early life She studied at Rickmansworth School in Croxley Green, Hertfordshire. Her mother is South African, while her father is from Rhodesia (modern-day Zimbabwe) though both live in England. She achieved a 2.1 in philosophy, studying at Pembroke College, Cambridge from 2004 to 2007. In June 2012, Kyla headlined the ''Guardian'' New Band of the Day gig. ''Ashes'' (2011–2012) Kyla had early success on the Amazing Radio new music chart. 'Walk Through Walls' was number one for five weeks in March and April 2011, and 'Been Better' topped the chart for 4 weeks in July. These were subsequently the top two songs in the year-end chart. The Maccabees (band)
The Maccabees are an English indie rock band, formed in 2004 in London. They released four albums: '' Colour It In'' in 2007, followed by '' Wall of Arms'' in 2009, '' Given to the Wild'' which was released on 9 January 2012 and their last album '' Marks to Prove It'' released on 31 July 2015. The band announced that they decided to disband in August 2016, with farewell gigs in 2017. On 25 October 2024, it was announced that the band were reuniting. Name The band came up with the name by flicking through the Bible and picking out a random word.
