Asghar Vesali
Ali Asghar Vesali Tehrani Fard (), commonly known as Asghar Vesali, was an Iranian military leader. Before the Iranian Revolution, he was a member of the People's Mujahedin of Iran (MEK). After joining the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, he was appointed as a leader of the Red Handkerchief during the Iran-Iraq War. Vesali was killed in Gilan-e Gharb at the age of 30. Biography Vesali left Iran to receive military training. He was arrested and imprisoned by the Pahlavi dynasty because of his support for MEK. He was released in late 1976 and did not continue his activities with MEK. In the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, Vesali was responsible for the Barrack-3 forces' mission to find and arrest members of the Forqan Group. After the Iranian Revolution, Vesali became a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and was one of the founders of the Foreign Intelligence department. The Islamic Republic of Iran Army Ground Forces (, ''Niruye Zaminiye Arteše Jomhuriye Eslâmiye Irân''), acronymed NEZAJA (, NEZAJA) are the ground forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army. In Iran, it is also called ''Artesh,'' () which is Persian for "army." In 2007, the regular Iranian Army was estimated to have 357,000 personnel (167,000 conscripts and 190,000 professionals) plus around 350,000 reservists for a total of 700,000 soldiers according to the CSIS. Behesht-e Zahra
Behesht-e Zahra ( ; ) is the largest cemetery in Iran. Located in the southern part of metropolitan Tehran, it is connected to the city by Tehran Metro Line 1. History In the early 1950s, all the cemeteries in Tehran were supposed to be replaced by several large new ones outside the then precincts of the capital. Behesht-e Zahra was built in late 1960s on the southern side of Tehran towards the direction of the city of Qom and opened on 29 June 1970 by mayor of Tehran, Gholamreza Nikpey. Many of the deceased soldiers of the Iran–Iraq War were buried in the martyrs' section of the cemetery. The 1979 Kurdish rebellion in Iran was one of the largest Consolidation of the Iranian Revolution, nationwide uprisings in the country against the Islamic_republic#Iran, new state following the Iranian Revolution.
