Ásgeir Ásgeirsson
Ásgeir Ásgeirsson (; 13 May 1894 – 15 September 1972) was the second president of Iceland, from 1952 to 1968. He was a Freemason and served as Grand Master of the Icelandic Order of Freemasons. Early life and education Educated as a theologian, Ásgeir graduated with honours from the University of Iceland in Reykjavík in 1915, but was considered too young to be ordained as a minister. He married Dóra Þórhallsdóttir in 1917. Dóra was the daughter of Þórhallur Bjarnarson (1855–1916), 6th Bishop of Iceland (1908–1916). Her brother was Tryggvi Þórhallsson, who was the 5th Prime Minister of Iceland (1927–1932). Political and business career Ásgeir was elected to the Althing in 1923 at the age of 29 for the Progressive Party. Ásgeir "Sigi" Sigurvinsson (born 8 May 1955 in Vestmannaeyjar) is an Icelandic retired football attacking midfielder and coach. He spent most of his career at Standard Liège and in Germany, amassing Bundesliga totals of 211 games and 39 goals for two clubs, mainly Stuttgart. Club career One of the first Icelandic footballers to play in a foreign country, Ásgeir played a single game for Rangers' reserve side in late 1972 before moving to Belgian club Standard Liège in 1973. Ásgeir Trausti Einarsson (; born 1 July 1992) is an Icelandic singer-songwriter and musician. In his Icelandic releases, he was credited as Ásgeir Trausti. In 2013, he started using the mononym Ásgeir as his recording name. He performs with his own band, the Ásgeir Trausti Band. He also plays guitar in the Icelandic band The Lovely Lion. Career Ásgeir's debut album ''Dýrð í dauðaþögn'' was released in 2012. Ásgeir R. Helgason (born 1957) is an Icelandic scientist working at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. Since 2002 he has been an associate professor in psychology at the Departments of Oncology-Pathology and Public Health at the Karolinska Institutet and Reykjavik University, Iceland. He is best known for his population based research on sexual function and emotional isolation in elderly men and prostate cancer patients, patient trade-off and his work on smoking cessation and quitlines. Asgeir Dølplads (born 26 August 1932) is a Norwegian former ski jumper. On 1 January 1953 he became the first ever winner of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen New Year's ski jump competition, an integral part of the Four Hills Tournament. With jumps of 78.5 and 81 metres, Dølplads won ahead of Austrian Sepp Bradl and German Toni Brutscher. In the ensuing competitions in Oberstdorf, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen, Dølplads was ranked 3, 2, and 7, landing him an overall 3rd prize, after Bradl and fellow Norwegian Halvor Næs. He represented Rena IL and Stabæk IF during his career. Ásgeir Jónsson (born 21 June 1970) is an Icelandic economist, teacher and author. He has been a notable contributor to the Icelandic policy debate during the boom and crisis periods. He is the son of Jón Bjarnason, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (2009-2011). He is the current governor of the Central Bank of Iceland.
