Abena Oppong-Asare (born 8 February 1983) is a British Labour Party politician who has served as a Parliamentary Secretary for the Cabinet Office since July 2024. She was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Erith and Thamesmead in the 2019 general election. She and Bell Ribeiro-Addy, both elected in the 2019 general election, are the first female British Ghanaian MPs. Meshack Asare (born 1945) is a popular African children's author. He was born in Ghana and currently resides in Degenfeld, Germany. Jermaine Robert Asare (born 22 September 1983) is a Welsh professional boxer. He represented Great Britain at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, winning a bronze medal. Samuel Asare Konadu (18 January 1932 – 1994) was a Ghanaian journalist, novelist, and publisher who also wrote under the pseudonym Kwabena Asare Bediako. Biography Born in Asamang, Ashanti Region, Gold Coast, Asare Konadu attended local primary and middle schools before studying at Abuakwa State College. He entered the Ghana Information Service in 1951, and also worked as a reporter for the Gold Coast Broadcasting Service. Yaw Asare (1954 – 1 August 2002) was a Ghanaian academic, playwright, dramatist and director. Early life and education Asare was born in 1954 at Nkonya-Tayi, a town in the Oti Region. He had his primary school and middle school education at Nkonya Ahenkro, and his secondary education at Nkonya Secondary School where he obtained his Ordinary-Level certificate in 1971. Jones Kusi-Asare (born 21 May 1980) is a former professional footballer who played as a forward. Born in Ghana, he represented Sweden at youth level. Career He started his career at Vasalunds IF in the Stockholm suburb of Solna. He was signed by Djurgården in 1998 and made his Allsvenskan against IFK Norrköping on 11 April 1999.
