''Jake and the Kid'' is a Canadian television drama series, which aired on the CanWest Global system of stations in the 1990s. The second television adaptation of W. O. Whitehorse Star
The ''Whitehorse Star'' was a newspaper in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. History The newspaper was founded in 1900 about a year after the Klondike Gold Rush ended. The paper was originally called the ''Northern Star'', by was later changed to the ''White Horse Star, Whitehorse Daily Star'' and since 2019 as the ''Whitehorse Star.'' In June 1950, Horace Moore sold the newspaper to Tom Bain, who had been editor of the ''Cambie News'' in Vancouver for 12 years. The new owner doubled the physical paper's size and the number of pages. Circulation rose to 2,300. Bain sold the paper to Harry Boyle of Vancouver in October 1954. Boyle bought a Linotype machine for the paper from the ''Dawson Weekly News'', which had closed. Laszlo Barna (born 1948) is a Gemini Award-winning executive producer of television programs and films. Born in Hungary but living and working in Canada, Barna produced prominent television shows such as Da Vinci's Inquest and Blue Murder. Biography Barna was born in Hungary and immigrated to Canada with his family in the late 1950s as a result of the Hungarian Uprising. His parents were Holocaust survivors who had been imprisoned in Auschwitz concentration camp. Barna and his parents arrived in Canada at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As part of a 2006 portrait photography exhibit in which Barna was featured, he stated that his parents "had suffered under both fascism and communism, and they said they were looking for a country where politicians retire rather than being executed" Barna experimented with stand-up comedy but suffered from stage fright, leading him to embark on a career as a television producer. Chris Haddock
Chris Haddock is a Canadian screenwriter, producer and director best known as the creator and showrunner of the CBC Television series '' Da Vinci's Inquest'', '' Da Vinci's City Hall'', ''Intelligence'' and ''The Romeo Section''. He has won 14 Gemini Awards as a writer, producer and/or director and received another 15 nominations - most of them for '' Da Vinci's Inquest''. Career Haddock began as a street performer, but he later focused his creative energies into screenwriting for television. One of his earliest efforts in writing was for the popular series, ''MacGyver'', where he also served as the story editor and executive story editor. He founded Haddock Entertainment in 1997.
