Artoffact Records is a Canadian/ Icelandic record label that concentrates on industrial, postpunk, heavy metal, and electronic music. The label was founded in 1999. History In 1997, Jacek Kozlowski laid the groundwork for Artoffact Records. In June 2013, the label put on a live showcase performance of some of its bands, including Prospero, Encephalon, and Legend. Actors (stylized as ACTORS) are a Canadian post-punk band from Vancouver, British Columbia, formed in 2012. The band consists of founder Jason Corbett (vocals and guitar), Shannon Hemmett (keyboards and backing vocals), Kendall Wooding (bass and backing vocals), and Adam Fink (drums). Their debut album, ''It Will Come To You'', was released in 2018, followed by their second album, ''Acts of Worship'', in 2021. History Early Years (2012–2016) While still working in the Vancouver restaurant industry as a server and manager, Jason Corbett began Actors in 2012. Though Actors was his first post-punk/dark wave musical project, Corbett was no stranger to the Vancouver music scene. Kælan Mikla
Kælan Mikla (, ) is an Icelandic post-punk band, formed in 2013 in Reykjavík. The trio consists of lead vocalist Laufey Soffía, bassist Margrét Rósa Dóru-Harrýsdóttir and keyboardist Sólveig Matthildur Kristjánsdóttir. Their music has been described as post-punk, dark wave, cold wave and gothic. The band's debut album ''Mánadans'' was recorded in 2014 and featured Matthildur on drums instead of synthesizer. They released a self-titled follow-up in 2016 by Fabrika Records, ''Nótt eftir nótt'' in 2018 and ''Undir köldum norðurljósum'' in 2021. They are currently signed to Artoffact Records. Kauan
Kauan is an atmospheric doom metal/post-rock band from Chelyabinsk, Russia, formed in 2005. Kauan's name stems from the Finnish language, meaning ''for a long time'', and many of the band's lyrics are in Finnish. The band moved to Finland in 2022 and is based in Helsinki. History Kauan was formed by Anton Belov (formerly of Helengard) in February 2005. At the beginning, their sound was a blend of folk metal, black metal and doom metal. In September 2006, Lyubov Mushnikova joined the band on violin. Guitarist Alexander Borovikh joined prior to the recording of their debut album, '' Lumikuuro'', released 4 August 2007 by BadMoodMan Music. Devours is the stage name of Jeff Cancade, a Canadian electronic musician. Career Originally from Nanaimo, British Columbia, Cancade launched the project after moving to Vancouver, British Columbia and coming out as gay. Cancade released debut mixtape ''Dignity'' in 2013, before following up with the full-length mixtape ''21st & Main'' in 2014. then released first official EP ''Avalon'' in 2015, and debut full-length album ''Late Bloomer'' on April 15, 2016, via the independent label Locksley Tapes. In 2018, Cancade signed to Artoffact Records, releasing second album ''Iconoclast'' on that label in March 2019. The album was preceded by the advance single "Curmudgeon", and supported with a regional tour of British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Download is a Canadian electronic music group formed by Dwayne Goettel and Kevin Crompton (aka cEvin Key) of Skinny Puppy in 1994. The initial lineup also included, Off & Gone's Phil Western and Mark Spybey of Dead Voices on Air, but has since been particularly fluid, with Key and Western being the only constant members following Goettel's death. Download's music has been described as post-industrial, drawing from the band's genesis as part of Skinny Puppy but also sharing common stylistic ground with such artists as Aphex Twin and Autechre. The primary instrumentation common throughout their albums is a blend of synthesizers and sampled instruments; the music is particularly centered on the elements of percussion and rhythm. Kevin William Crompton (born February 13, 1961), known professionally as cEvin Key, is a Canadian musician, songwriter, producer, and composer. He is best known as a member of the industrial music group Skinny Puppy, which he co-founded in 1982 with singer Nivek Ogre. Initially a side project while he was with the new wave band Images in Vogue, Skinny Puppy quickly became his primary musical outlet after landing a record deal with Nettwerk Records in 1984. When Skinny Puppy disbanded in 1995 following the death of keyboardist Dwayne Goettel, Key's main project became the electronic noise group Download (band), Download, whose first album, ''Furnace (Download album), Furnace'', was released that same year. Controlled Bleeding
Controlled Bleeding was an experimental music group based in Massapequa, New York. The group was founded by Paul Lemos, the group's only consistent member. Most of Controlled Bleeding's released recordings feature two main collaborators, Chris Moriarty and vocalist Joe Papa, who both died in the late 2000s. In February 2020 Lemos announced that the band had dissolved. Since their first full-length release in 1983, Controlled Bleeding released over 30 albums spanning several different genres, many of which were released on notable independent labels. Their cross-genre approach combined with the out-of-print status of many of the group's releases is reminiscent of the work of other experimental and cross-genre groups of the 80s and 90s such as Coil and Swans. Jesus on Extasy (abbreviated "JoE") is an electronic rock band from Essen, Germany, formed in 2005 by Dorian Deveraux and Chai Deveraux. The band's musical style can be described as a hybrid of rock and metal elements and electronic music. After breaking up in 2014, the band announced their reunion on their Facebook page in October 2020. Ayria is a Canadian futurepop/synthpop musical project formed in early 2003 by Toronto's Jennifer Parkin following her departure from the futurepop and EBM band Epsilon Minus. Biography The first Ayria album, ''Debris'', was released on Alfa Matrix in 2003. During this period, Parkin performed guest vocals for several other projects, including Belgium's Aïboforcen and Implant, and Mexico's Isis Signum, some of which she would return to later on, such as the late 2011 release of two songs with Aïboforcen.
