Arthur G. Odell Jr.
Arthur G. Odell Jr. (1913–1988) was an American architect in practice in Charlotte, North Carolina, from 1940 to 1982. He was founder of the practice now known as Odell Associates and was president of the American Institute of Architects for the year 1964–65. Life and career Arthur Gould Odell Jr., often known as Gouldie Odell, was born November 22, 1913, in Concord, North Carolina, to Arthur Gould Odell and Grace (Patterson) Odell. He attended Duke University and Cornell University, graduating with a B.Arch. from the latter in 1935. He then spent a year abroad, studying in the atelier of Jacques Debat-Ponsan of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After he returned to the United States he worked for Harrison & Fouilhoux and Raymond Loewy in New York City before returning to North Carolina, opening an office in Charlotte, North Carolina, Charlotte in 1940. Harry Wolf is an American architect based out of Los Angeles. He has won five American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Honor Awards for his work and 30 regional and state AIA honors. Wolf and his firm Wolf+ won the 1991 Award for Architectural Excellence given by the Florida chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the NCNB National Bank (now Rivergate Tower) building design in Tampa, Florida. Harvey Gantt
Harvey Bernard Gantt (born January 14, 1943) is an American architect and Democratic politician active in North Carolina. The first African-American student admitted to Clemson University after attending Iowa State University, Gantt graduated with honors in architecture, earned a master's at MIT, and established an architectural practice in Charlotte with a partner. Gantt entered local politics, where he was elected to the city council, serving from 1974 to 1983. He was elected to two terms as the first black Mayor of Charlotte from 1983 to 1987. In 1990 and 1996, Gantt was the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, losing to incumbent Republican Jesse Helms both times.
