Arthur Bakker
Arthur Bakker (born January 3, 1970) is a Dutch mathematics education researcher and associate professor at the Freudenthal Institute, Utrecht University, Netherlands. He is Fellow at the University of Bremen. Service and Functions He is editor-in-chief of '' Educational Studies in Mathematics''. Before, he was associate editor of '' Educational Studies in Mathematics'' since 2014. With Celia Hoyles, Phillip Kent, and Richard B. Noss, he is the co-author of ''Improving Mathematics at Work: The Need for Techno-Mathematical Literacies'' (Routledge, 2010). His main area of expertise is mathematics education, but he has contributed also to a more general boundary-crossing framework, and to the development of design research in education as a methodological approach to improve education and education as a design science more generally. Freudenthal Institute
The Freudenthal Institute (FI) is a research institute, part of the Faculty of Science of Utrecht University in the Netherlands. The FI aims to improve education in science and mathematics by means of education research and valorisation. The institute was founded in 1971 by the German/Dutch writer, pedagogue and mathematician, professor Hans Freudenthal (1905–1990), as the Institute for the Development of Mathematical Education. Celia Hoyles
Dame Celia Mary Hoyles, ( French; born 18 May 1946) is a British mathematician, educationalist and Professor of Mathematics Education at University College London (UCL), in the Institute of Education (IoE). Early life and education Celia was born on 18 May 1946. She was educated at the University of Manchester where she graduated with a first class degree in mathematics from the Department of Mathematics in 1967. She subsequently completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in 1971, and a Master of Education degree (MEd) in 1973. She completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in 1980, with a thesis titled "Factors in school learning - the pupils' view: a study with particular reference to mathematics". ''TinkerPlots'' is exploratory data analysis and modeling software designed for use by students in grades 4 through university. It was designed by Clifford Konold and Craig Miller at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is currently published by Learn Troop. It runs on Windows XP or later and Mac OS 10.4 or later. The program allows users to enter their own data, to import them from other applications or the Web, or to generate them using a sampling engine.
