Artem Shmidt (born 30 January 2004) is an American road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . In 2025, he won the elite time trial race at the USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships. Early life From Cumming, Georgia, he won age-group US amateur road titles on the road, time trial and criterium as a 12 year-old. In 2021, he finished third in the road race at US Men’s Junior National Road Race Championships. Career In 2022, he finished in fifth place in the junior road race and sixth place in the junior time trial at the 2022 UCI Road World Championships, held in Wollongong, Australia. He was signed by for the 2023 season. In October 2023, riding for Hagens Berman Axeon, he won his first UCI classified 2.2 race with victory on the first stage of the Istrian Spring Trophy. 2024 UCI Road World Championships
The 2024 UCI Road World Championships was the 97th edition of the UCI Road World Championships, the annual world championships for road bicycle racing. It was held between 22 and 29 September 2024 in Zürich, Switzerland, alongside the 2024 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships, UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships. A total of thirteen events were held, consisting of six road races, six individual time trials and a team time trial mixed relay (all of them finishing in Zürich in front of Sechseläutenplatz). The event was overshadowed by a fatality in competition, as 18-year-old Swiss rider Muriel Furrer died from injuries sustained in a race crash during the junior women's road race. The event was continued at the express request of Muriel Furrer's parents and family, with a series of tributes and memorials. United States National Time Trial Championships
The United States National Time Trial Championships are held annually to decide the American champions in this cycling discipline, across various age and gender categories. Originally, in 1975, the time trial event distance was 25 miles. It later changed to 40 km, and still later changed to the current distance of 32.3 kilometers (20.1 miles). The winners of each event are awarded with a symbolic cycling jersey which is red, white and blue, just like the national flag, these colors can be worn by the rider at other time trialling events in the country to show their status as national champion. The champion's stripes can be combined into a sponsored rider's team kit design for this purpose. Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne is an annual single-day road bicycle racing, road cycling race in Belgium. It is held one day after Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, on the last Sunday of February or the first of March, and completes the opening weekend of the Belgian cycling season.
