Artcell
Artcell is a Bangladeshi progressive metal band formed in 23 October 1999, by vocalist and riff guitarist George Lincoln D'Costa, lead guitarist Ershad Zaman, bassist Saef Al Nazi Cézanne and drummer Kazi Sajjadul Asheqeen Shaju. The first song the band composed was ‘'' অন্য সময় (Onno Shomoy)''’. The song set the standard for all the songs yet to come along the way. The first song released by Artcell was ‘Odekha Shorgo’ which was recorded for the great Azam Khan for a mixed album he was planning on. But later it was released on a mixed album called Charpotro'''. The song ‘''Onnoshomoy''’ was written by Rumman Ahmed and ‘''Odekha Shorgo''’ by Rupok. Both Rumman and Rupok were very close friends of the band members; and together they wrote most of the songs for Artcell. During that time songwriter Rupok died from cerebral malaria on 2002. Onno Shomoy
''Onno Shomoy'' (; ) is the debut album by the Bangladeshi progressive metal band, Artcell, released in 2002 under G-Series. This album was highly appreciated by metal listeners. This album was one of the first to introduce and develop progressive metal music in Bangladesh. Their sound and compositions differed from other Bangla rock music during that time consisting of fingerstyle guitar intros, unique drum fills with the use of hi-hats and double bass and bass guitar tapping. Their playing style and sound got developed in their upcoming albums as time went on. The main concept of this album was about Rupok's demise, who wrote many lyrics for the band along with Rumman Ahmed. This album was dedicated to him. In 1999, he was diagnosed with cerebral malaria and he died at a very early age, 3 years before the release of this album. ''"Oniket Prantor"'' (; ) is the second album released by the Bangladeshi metal band Artcell. It was released on 1 April 2006, 4 years after the release of their first album, Onno Shomoy (Alternate Time). The album has continued to soar in popularity with songs that became cult classics such as ‘Smriti Sharok’, ‘Shohid Sharoni’, ‘Dhushor Shomoy’. The album features a more matured tone than their previous works with more complex compositions and changing time signatures. The album was released in Bashundara City Shopping Mall where the members of Black, Bassbaba Sumon from Aurthohin and Iqbal Asif Jewel who mixed their album and is now currently one of the band members were all present at the launch. Cryptic Fate is a Bangladeshi heavy metal band formed in 1993 in Dhaka. They are one of the pioneers of Bangladeshi heavy metal music. Since 1993, they have released four studio albums and several singles in mixed albums. The original lineup consists of singer Iresh Zaker, guitarists K. Iqbal Asif Jewel
Iqbal Asif Jewel (born 1 March) is a Bangladeshi singer, songwriter, guitarist, composer and producer. He is currently a member of the band Miles and Artcell. Career Iqbal's first band was ''Legend'', whose first album was ''Onnobhubon''. After the rest of the band left to continue their academic studies, he joined Warfaze, a rock band that was one of the first Bangladeshi rock bands to incorporate elements of heavy metal and progressive metal/progressive rock in its songs. In 1999, Jewel joined Miles. Arbovirus is a Bangladeshi rock band formed in 2001 in Dhaka. They have released four studio albums, one EP, and twelve singles through various mixed albums. G-Series is a major Bangladeshi record label. The company produces and publishes cassettes, CDs, VCDs, and DVDs of dramas, telefilms, movies, and music. It is one of the largest such companies in Bangladesh. The owner of the company is Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan, popularly known as Khaled. Aurthohin is a Bangladeshi rock band formed in Dhaka in 1998 by Sumon (musician), Saidus Sumon (vocals and bass guitar), Tonmoy Rahman (lead guitar), Ponir (rhythm guitar) and Rumi Rahman (drums and percussion).
