Arseny Alexandrovich Sokolov (; 19 March 1910 – 19 October 1986) was a Russian theoretical physicist known for the development of synchrotron radiation theory. Biography Arseny Sokolov graduated from Tomsk State University (TSU) in 1931. He obtained the degree of Candidate of Sciences (equivalent to PhD) from TSU under supervision of Piotr Tartakovsky (1934). The degree of Doctor of Sciences was obtained by him from Leningrad Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute (1942, at that time in evacuation in Kazan). Then he moved to Moscow State University (MSU), where he held the positions of the dean of the Faculty of Physics (1948–1954) and the head of the Theoretical Physics Department at the Faculty of Physics (1966–1982). Arseny Grigoryevich Golovko (; 10 June 1906 – 17 May 1962) was a Soviet admiral, whose naval service extended from the 1920s through the early Cold War. Service He entered the Soviet Navy in 1925 and graduated in 1928 from the M.V. Frunze Higher Naval School in Leningrad. After that he served in various Fleet assignments. In 1937 and 1938 he took part in the Spanish Civil War on the side of the Republicans. After his return to the USSR he attended the naval warfare school. From 1940 to 1946, during the Second World War, he was Commander of the Soviet Northern Fleet. After the war he held various naval commands, among them Commander of the Baltic Fleet. In 1956 he was named First Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Soviet Navy. He died in 1962. Arseni Markov (born 12 November 1981) is a former competitive ice dancer who competed internationally for Canada and Russia. With Chantal Lefebvre, he is the 2004 and 2005 Canadian national bronze medalist. With earlier partner Svetlana Kulikova, he is the 2001 Winter Universiade bronze medalist and 2002 Skate Canada International bronze medalist. Career Markov competed as a singles skater for Russia until he was 13 years old. He teamed up with Svetlana Kulikova in 1996. They placed 6th at the 2000 World Junior Championships. Following the 2000–2001 season, Kulikova and Markov moved to Newington, Connecticut, to train full-time with Tatiana Tarasova and Nikolai Morozov. Arseny Grigoryevich Zverev (; 2 March 1900 – 27 July 1969) was a Soviet and Russian politician, economist and statesman whose career spanned the rules of Joseph Stalin and Nikita Khrushchev, but culminated during the Stalin years. Zverev was born in a little village just outside Moscow. After years in local politics, he rose to prominence as a Deputy Commissar of Finance, but he also held other lesser posts such as a member of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union. As Deputy Commissar of Finance he was able to work up, and eventually get promoted to People's Commissar for Finance (renamed to Ministry in 1946). Later, Zverev gained a seat in both the Central Committee and the Presidium. During the Great Patriotic War he was responsible for providing funds for the Soviet military machine to fight the Germans.
