The Arrogant
''The Arrogant'' is a 1987 action-thriller film directed, written, and produced by Philippe Blot. It stars Gary Graham and Sylvia Kristel, Giovanni and Julie, as two strangers who meet on a desert highway. As they travel together, they encounter many strange situations that are often religious, sexual, or both. The uninhibited and arrogant Giovanni is usually the cause of most of these dilemmas they come across. Plot The opening of this film begins at a dinner party for Giovanni and his wife Elvira who are celebrating a wedding anniversary. However, not everyone is happy for them as Elvira's father (possibly a senator) enters and angrily confronts Giovanni over his arrogance, adultery, and recklessness. Giovanni's ego is unruffled by this and calmly tells his father-in-law to die as soon as possible. Elvira suggests Giovanni leave and get some champagne from the cellar. Giovanni takes the opportunity not only to get the champagne but also to have a sexual encounter with h ... Arrogance
Hubris (; ), or less frequently hybris (), is extreme or excessive pride or dangerous overconfidence and complacency, often in combination with (or synonymous with) arrogance. Hubris, arrogance, and pretension are related to the need for victory (even if it does not always mean winning) instead of reconciliation, which "friendly" groups might promote. Hubris is usually perceived as a characteristic of an individual rather than a group, although the group the offender belongs to may suffer collateral consequences from wrongful acts. Hubris often indicates a loss of contact with reality and an overestimation of one's own competence, accomplishments, or capabilities. The term ''hubris'' originated in Ancient Greek, where it had several different meanings depending on the context. In legal usage, it meant assault or sexual crimes and theft of public property, and in religious usage it meant emulation of divinity or transgression against a god. Arrogance (band)
Arrogance is a rock band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In the 1970s and early 1980s, they were considered one of the most popular local bands in the state. All Music Guide stated that Arrogance was “one of the architects of the alternative trend of the 1980s”. Arrogance made a run of appearances at Raleigh's Village Subway, and were the first group to play some chords at the Pier back in 1973. The group has released six full length albums in its history and an early non-LP single. In 1983, the group entered a dormant period, and the members did not perform together again until 2000, when the band reunited for a few select concerts and gigs in the Triangle area in celebration of Arrogance's 30th anniversary. The most notable was the "Reunion" concert at the North Carolina Museum of Art Amphitheatre in Raleigh in 2000. After large turnouts at the band's 2000 performances, Arrogance began performing again in local clubs, bars, and at special events, averaging about one ... Love Symbol
''Love Symbol'' is the fourteenth studio album by American recording artist Prince, and the second of the two that featured his backing band the New Power Generation. It was released on October 13, 1992, by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records. It was originally conceived as a "fantasy rock soap opera" with various spoken segues throughout, and contains elements of R&B, funk, pop, rock, and soul. The official title of the album is an unpronounceable symbol depicted on its cover art, which Prince copyrighted under the title "Love Symbol #2", and adopted as his stage name from 1993 to 2000 to protest his treatment by Warner Bros. Records (which had refused to steadily release his back catalog of unreleased music, and which he claimed trademarked his given name for promotional purposes). The release has been referred to under titles such as ''Love Symbol'', ''Symbol Album'', or ''Symbol''. Its first two singles, " Sexy MF" and " My Name Is Prince", achieved modest succ ...
