Lake Kuyucuk
Lake Kuyucuk (), is a small shallow lake located in Arpaçay district of Kars Province in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. It has an area of and a maximum depth at . The lake area is an internationally recognized Ramsar site, important for its ornithofauna, and a tourist wildlife reserve. Geology The Kalkankale Formation, consisting of old sandstone, mudstone and claystone dating back to early Pliocene period, underlies wide areas at Lake Kuyucuk and the surrounding landscape, and forms the flat and low-sloped terrain of the region. Elevations north of the lake are formed by agglomerate, tuff and andesite of early Pliocene old Kura volcanic rocks while the southwestern elevations are formed by tuff, andesite, pearlite, pumice and obsidian of Dumanlıdağ pyroclastic rocks. Azer Bülbül
Subutay Kesgin, better known by his stage name Azer Bülbül (1 February 1967 – 6 January 2012), was a prominent Turkish folk singer and actor. Biography Azer Bülbül was born Subutay Kesgin in Arpaçay, Kars Province, Kars in Azerbaijanis, Azerbaijani Terekeme people, Terekeme family. After moving to Germany with his family, Bülbül started his music career, releasing his debut album ''Garip Yolcu'' in 1984. After releasing a string of folk music albums, he achieved commercial success with his 1994 album, ''Ben Babayım''. On 15 February 2001, he was convicted for drug-related charges and released on bail. In 2011, he stated that he was rehabilitated and had been clean for 18 months. Bülbül died of a heart attack on 6 January 2012 in Antalya. He was found dead in his hotel room and was buried in Esenyurt Cemetery in Istanbul. The Eastern Anatolia region () is a geographical region of Turkey. The most populous province in the region is Van Province. Other populous provinces are Malatya, Erzurum and Elazığ. Karapapakhs
The Karapapakhs (; ), or Terekeme (; ), are a Turkic people, who originally spoke the Karapapakh language, a western Oghuz language closely related to Azerbaijani and Turkish. Nowadays, the Karapapakh language has been largely supplanted by Azerbaijani and Turkish. After moving into Western Asia in the Middle Ages together with other Turkic speakers and Mongol nomads, the Karapapakhs settled along the Debed river in eastern Georgia (along the present-day Georgian-Armenian border). They moved to Qajar Iran, and the Ottoman Empire after the Treaty of Turkmenchay was concluded between Iran and Russia in 1828. The Karapapakhs who remained within the Russian Empire were counted as a separate group in Tsarist population figures.
