Aron Kiviharju
Aron Kiviharju (born 25 January 2006) is a Danish-born, Finnish ice hockey defenceman for HIFK of the Finnish Elite League (SM-liiga). He is considered one of the most promising players in his age group, and a likely first round pick at the 2024 NHL draft. Career The Dubuque Fighting Saints drafted Kiviharju as the 147th pick in the 2022 USHL Futures Draft. However, he continued to play with TPS for the 2022–23 season. Kiviharju made his professional debut at only 16 years old in the second round of the Champions Hockey League on 4 September 2022 against EV Zug. He was marked as the seventh defender of TPS. Kiviharju had 13:47 minutes of ice time in the match, ending in a 0–4 loss for TPS. Kiviharju made his SM-liiga debut in the opening round of the regular season on 13 September away game against Tappara. Kiviharju played 21 games and scored three points in the 2022–23 season. Raisio (; sv, Reso) is a town and municipality in south-western Finland and an important junction of major roads. The town has a population of () and is located in the region of Southwest Finland, neighbouring the region's capital, Turku. The Esbjerg Energy is a Danish professional ice hockey team based in Esbjerg, Denmark, playing in the Metal Ligaen, the top tier of Danish ice hockey. The 2022–23 SM-liiga season was the 48th season of the SM-liiga, the top level of ice hockey in Finland, since the league's formation in 1975. A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. Penalties are called and enforced by the referee, or in some cases, the linesman. The offending team may not replace the player on the ice (although there are some exceptions, such as fighting), leaving them short-handed as opposed to full strength. When the opposing team is said to be on a '' power play'', they will have one more player on the ice than the short-handed team. The short-handed team is said to be "on the penalty kill" until the penalty expires and the penalized player returns to play. In ice hockey, point has three contemporary meanings. Personal stat A point is awarded to a player for each goal scored or assist earned. The total number of goals plus assists equals total points.
