Arnt Førland
Arnt Førland (born 10 July 1964) is a Norwegian former international motorcycle speedway rider, who rode in 2004 Speedway Grand Prix of Norway and is a three-time Norwegian champion. He represented the Norway national speedway team during the final of the 1995 Speedway World Team Cup. Career In 1989, he won the Scandinavian Longtrack championship. Førland was a three-time champion of Norway, winning the Norwegian Championship in 1989, 2004 and 2005. As part of the Speedway World Championships, he competed in the Nordic Speedway final on multiple occasions. On 29 September 2013, he was taken to hospital following a serious crash, riding for his Swedish team Valsarna during the 2013 Swedish speedway season. Sandnes () is a city and municipality in Rogaland, Norway. It lies immediately south of Stavanger, the 4th largest municipality in Norway, and together the Stavanger/Sandnes area is the third-largest urban area in Norway. Elgane
Elgane is a motorcycle speedway and motocross stadium near Varhaug in Norway. The stadium is situated approximately 6 kilometres east of Varhaug, on the Elgane road. The venue has previously been listed as being part of Stavanger but although both are in Rogaland county, Elgane is 50 kilometres south of Stavanger. The facility is run by the Motorsykkel Elgane Klubb and is one of Norway's leading motorcycle speedway venues. History Initially the venue was used by the team NMK Stavanger until MK Elgane took over the running of the facility. It was and still is, a significant venue for important motorcycle speedway events. Valsarna
Valsarna is a motorcycle speedway club from Tallhult, Hagfors in Sweden, who compete in the Swedish Speedway Team Championship. Their home track is at the Tallhult Motorstadion which is located to the North of Hagfors on the road to Geijersholm. They are twice league champions of Sweden. History 1967–1976 Valsarna Speedway Club was founded on 11 October 1967. Norwegian Individual Speedway Championship
The Individual Speedway Norwegian Championship is an annual speedway event held each year organised by the Norges Motorsportforbund (NMF). The first championship was held in 1938 in Trondheim and saw Ragnar C. Erichsen as winner. History Lars Gunnestad has won the highest number of championships with ten victories between 1988 and 2003. The final of the Norwegian Championship regularly doubled up as the Norwegian qualification round for the Speedway World Championship from 1952 until 1975. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Norway National Speedway Team
The Norway national speedway team are one of the teams that compete in international team motorcycle speedway. History The Norwegian speedway team competed in the inaugural Speedway World Team Cup in 1960, finishing third in the Scandinavian round at Odense, Denmark. The team consisted of Aage Hansen, Rolf Mellerud, Nils Paulsen, Rolf Westerberg and Sverre Harrfeldt. From 1960 to 1985, the team failed to qualify from their qualifying group during the World Cup, due to the fact that they were drawn together in qualifying with two of the world's strongest speedway nations, Denmark and Sweden. They did however win a bronze medal at the 1968 Speedway World Pairs Championship. The World Team Cup system changed in 1986 but it was not until the 1991 Speedway World Team Cup that the team progressed from qualifying to round two.
