Arnold Kisoka
Arnold Daso Kisoka (born 4 September 2000) is a Congolese judoka. He qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics and was selected as his country's flag bearer. Biography Kisoka was born in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as the 10th of 11 children. He participated in judo at an early age and rose through the ranks; he also attended Bumbe Technical Industrial Vocational Institute and graduated in 2018 with a degree in construction. A member of the Ouragan judo club in Matete, he was selected for the national team in 2022 and made his international debut at the Dakar African Open tournament in November 2022. Later that month, he won gold at the Yaoundé African Open, thus becoming the first Congolese judoka to accomplish the feat. Marcus Valerius Martialis (known in English as Martial ; March, between 38 and 41 AD – between 102 and 104 AD) was a Roman and Celtiberian poet born in Bilbilis, Hispania (modern Spain) best known for his twelve books of ''Epigrams'', published in Ancient Rome, Rome between AD 86 and 103, during the reigns of the emperors Domitian, Nerva and Trajan. In these poems he satirises city life and the scandalous activities of his acquaintances, and romanticises his provincial upbringing. Radio Télévision nationale congolaise (RTNC) is the national broadcaster of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is government controlled in a country with a poor record on press freedom. Radio-Télévision Nationale Congolaise currently broadcasts in Lingala, French, and English. History Radio Congo Belge (RCB) was created in 1940 by the general government of the Belgian Congo. After the country gained independence, Radio du Congo Belge (RCB) became Radiodiffusion Nationale Congolaise (RNC). RTNC started television broadcasts in Kinshasa on November 24, 1966, three hours a day (7pm to 10pm), on VHF channel 5. 2024 Summer Olympics Torch Relay
The 2024 Summer Olympic torch relay ran from 16 April 2024 until 26 July 2024. After it was lit in Olympia, Greece, the torch then travelled through Greece, arriving at Athens on 26 April. It sailed across the Mediterranean on the three-masted barque ''Belem (ship), Belem'' to Marseille on 9 May and subsequently began its travel across Metropolitan and Overseas France, as well as Monaco. The French leg ended during the 2024 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, opening ceremony when it was used to light the 2024 Summer Olympics cauldron, Olympic cauldron. 2023 Jeux De La Francophonie
The 2023 Jeux de la Francophonie, also known as ''IXes Jeux de la Francophonie'' ( French for ''9th Francophone Games''), informally Kinshasa 2023 (), were a multi-sport event held from July 28 to August 6, 2023, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. This was the first edition of the games to be hosted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Originally awarded on April 7, 2016, to Moncton and Dieppe. On January 30, 2019, the New Brunswick government cancelled its commitment to host the games due to funding issues. The games were awarded to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo in July 2019. In 2020, the games were moved from 2021 to 2022 to avoid clashing with the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics. They were postponed once again in 2022, to 2023 due to delays.
