Arnim Tölke
Arnim Tölke (born 1963) is a German contemporary painter. Arnim Tölke was born in Göttingen. He is a former masters student of Markus Lüpertz. He is a member of the painter group D.A.R.M. As a painter he often deals with masculine issues, for instance, work that incorporates macho and military imagery. He has traveled extensively to warzones for inspiration, the most notable of which being Uganda where he had first-hand experiences with the Civil War against the Lord's Resistance Army. Since 1999 he has been teaching life-drawing at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, being an essential component of introduction into the academy life along with his colleague and former classmate Udo Dziersk. Markus Lüpertz
Markus Lüpertz (born 25 April 1941) is a German painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and writer. He also publishes a magazine, and plays jazz piano. He is one of the best-known German contemporary artists. His subjects are characterized by suggestive power and archaic monumentality. Lüpertz insists on capturing the object of representation with an archetypal statement of his existence. His art work is associated to neo-expressionism. Known for his eccentricity, German press has stylized him as a "painter prince". Life and artistic career Lüpertz was born in Reichenberg in the Reichsgau Sudetenland of Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia (now Liberec in the Czech Republic) in 1941. Lord's Resistance Army
The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) is a Christian extremist organization operating in Central Africa and East Africa. Its origins were in the War in Uganda (1986–1994), Ugandan insurgency (1986–1994) against Yoweri Museveni, during which Joseph Kony founded the LRA in 1987. The group is active in northern Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Udo Dziersk
Udo Dziersk (born Gelsenkirchen, 1961) is a contemporary German painter. Since 2002 Udo Dziersk has been professor of the Orientierungs-Bereich at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, mentoring newcomers of the student body before they assume their direction by joining a class. He was a student at the academy under Gerhard Richter and later Markus Lüpertz from 1983 to 1988 and did studies aside with Per Kirkeby and Georg Baselitz. His works are often inspired by the experiences and impressions of his extensive travels around the world, though as cultural stimulus for what develops from sketches to canvas.
