Arnie Morrison
Arnie Morrison (1907-1976) was a Canadian football player, playing from 1933 to 1938 with the Ottawa Rough Riders. Morrison was a multi-sport star athlete, but was involved in a junior football brawl and riot when his Ottawa Rideaus played the St. Thomas Yellow Jackets in 1929. He was served with a lifetime ban from football, but after winning Cummings Trophy for fair play in the Civil Service Hockey League, he was reinstated in 1931. His first season with the Riders was 1933 and he would play in the Grey Cup in 1936, was an all-star in 1937, and was fully vindicated when he won the Jeff Russel Memorial Trophy for skill, sportsmanship, and courage in 1936. He later served overseas with the Canadian Army for three years, during World War II. Arnold J. "Arnie" Simkus (born March 25, 1943) is a former American football player. Simkus was born in Schlawa, Germany (now part of Poland) and immigrated to the United States as a boy. He graduated from Cass Tech High School in Detroit, Michigan before enrolling at the University of Michigan. He was a member of the 1964 Michigan Wolverines football team that won the Big Ten Conference championship and defeated Oregon State in the 1965 Rose Bowl. On November 28, 1964, Simkus was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round (72nd overall pick) of the 1965 NFL draft. In April 1965, Simkus signed a contract to play professional football for the American Football League's New York Jets. Arnold Sidebottom (born 1 April 1954) is an English former footballer and cricketer, who played cricket for Yorkshire and played one Test match for England. Football Sidebottom was born in Shawlands, Barnsley, Yorkshire, and started off as a professional footballer, playing as a central defender. He joined Manchester United as an amateur in January 1971, and turned professional in 1972. He replaced the injured Jim Holton during the 1974–75 season in the Second Division. He helped United win the Second Division Championship in that season, but was transferred in January 1976 to Huddersfield Town, after making 20 appearances for United. Arnold A. Shockley (August 31, 1903 – April 27, 1988) was an American professional football player who spent one season in the National Football League (NFL) with the Boston Bulldogs, in 1929. Shockley was an all-conference tackle at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1926 and 1927. He then went on to be a coach and administrator working for more than 30 years in schools at Jackson, Greer and Kiowa counties. He spent his last 13 years working at Mountain View High School before retiring in 1965. He was inducted into the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1965. Born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, Patterson began his career after university as a reporter for ''The Chronicle Herald'' and ''Mail-Star'' newspapers in Halifax before moving to Toronto, joining the '' Toronto Telegram'' in 1954.
