Army Operational Command (Denmark)
Army Operational Command (), short "HOK", was the Danish Army's top authority. It is a Level.II command authority, directly under the Defence Command. ''HOK'' was formed on 1 January 1991. The origin of ''HOK'' can be traced back to 1808, with the forming of the General staff. Initially located in Aarhus, 1 August 1993 it had its headquarters in Karup, Denmark. Due to the recent Defence agreement 2005-2009 many changes are currently in the process of being implemented, so the following subordinated list might not be fully complete or fully accurate. The Danish Ministry of Defence (, short ''FMN'') is a ministry in the Danish government. It is charged with overall planning, development, and strategic guidance of the entire area of responsibility of the Minister of Defence, including the Danish Armed Forces and the emergency management sector. It is Denmark's ministry of defence and serves as the secretariat of the Danish Defence Minister. It is also the administrator of the easternmost land in Denmark, the small archipelago, Ertholmene, whose administrator is employed by the ministry. History The Ministry of Defence was established following the Danish defence law of May 27, 1950 (law #272), about the central structure of the military of Denmark. This combined the two previous ministries; Ministry of War (Krigsministeriet) and the Marine ministry (Marineministeriet). Gardehusarregimentet
The Guard Hussar Regiment () is a cavalry unit of the Royal Danish Army, whose primary task is to train the Guard Hussars for various functions in the mobilisation force. The Guard Hussar Regiment is one of two active cavalry regiments of the Danish Army, and was formed in 2001 through the amalgamation of the original Guard Hussars regiment, Zealand Life Regiment and Danish Life Regiment. History Origins of the regiment Although the Guard Hussars themselves date from 10 February 1762, the Danish Army takes the date of the founding of a regiment from its oldest part, in this case the Zealand Life Regiment, which was founded in 1614. This makes the Guard Hussars one of the oldest regiments of hussars in the world still operational, it is also the only hussars in mounted parade uniform to still wear the slung and braided pelisse which was formerly characteristic of this class of cavalry.
