The Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia () is the ministry responsible for the management of the energy systems, and control of the exploitation of natural resources in Armenia. It elaborates and implements the policies of the Government of Armenia in the energy sector. Its history can be traced to the time that Armenia was part of the Soviet Union. Since that time, many ministers have changed, as well as, the official name of the ministry, although maintaining the word 'energy' in its name throughout. Yervand Zakharyan
Yervand Zakharyan (; born 14 May 1946) is an Armenian politician and the former mayor of the Armenian capital Yerevan. He is a member of the country's Republican Party and was the 8th mayor of the Armenian capital since Armenia's independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. Biography Zakharyan was born in the village of Saler in the Shamkir region of the Azerbaijan SSR. He worked in the Yerevan trust "Basemetalsconstruct" from 1962 to 1963 and as a rigger in the plant "Razdanconstruct" in 1963 to 1964. He served as an engineer and chief of the zone of the constructional administration "Warmconstrict" during the rest of the 1960s, while simultaneously attending Yerevan Polytechnic Institute (where he graduated from 1968). Kapan
Kapan ( ) is a town in southeast Armenia, serving as the administrative centre of the Kapan Municipality and also as the provincial capital of Syunik Province. It is located in the valley of the Voghji (river), Voghji River and is on the northern slopes of Khustup, Mount Khustup. Kapan is the most populous town in the Syunik Province as well as the entire region of southern Armenia. According to the 2011 census, the population of Kapan was 43,190, a slight decline from 45,711 in the 2001 census. According to the 2022 census, the current population of the town is around 32,780. Syunik Province
Syunik (, ) is the southernmost province of Armenia. It is bordered by the Vayots Dzor Province to the north, Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic exclave to the west, Azerbaijan to the east, and Iran to the south.
