Armen Chakmakian
Armen John Chakmakian (Western Armenian: Արմէն Չագմագեան; Eastern hy, Արմեն Չաքմաքյան) born (February 11, 1966) in Glendale, California) is an Armenian-American musician, composer, recording artist, and producer. Formerly the keyboardist for the GRAMMY® award-winning band Shadowfax, their 1992 CD, ''Esperanto'' was nominated for a Best New Age Album GRAMMY® Award. He has released two solo albums on his label TruArt Records: ''Ceremonies'' (1998); ''Caravans'' (2004). Two tracks from ''Ceremonies'', "Gypsy Rain" and "Distant Lands", also appear on the famed "Buddha Bar" and "Buddha Bar IV" compilation albums, respectively. Armen's albums also feature world-renowned oud player, violinist and composer John Bilezikjian, duduk master Djivan Gasparyan and former Windham Hill acoustic guitarist Alex De Grassi. ''Saltimbanco'' was a touring show by Cirque du Soleil. ''Saltimbanco'' ran from 1992 to 2006 in its original form, performed under a large circus tent called the Grand Chapiteau; its last performance in that form was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on December 10, 2006. A new adaptation of the show started touring North America on July 31, 2007, with its first stop in London, Ontario, Canada. The new version was staged in arenas with fewer performances in each city it visited. The new version closed at the end of 2012. The show was described by Cirque du Soleil as a celebration of life. Its creators say they developed it as an antidote to the violence and despair prevalent in the 20th century. This is a list of notable Armenian Americans, including both original immigrants who obtained American citizenship and their American descendants. Armenian Americans are people born or raised in the United States, or who reside there, with origins in the country known as Armenia, which ranges from the Caucasian mountain range to the Armenian plateau. Chuck Greenberg (musician)
Chuck Greenberg (March 25, 1950 – September 4, 1995), born in Chicago, Illinois, was an American musical artist, composer and producer. He began his musical career in the Midwest, including a backup band tour with the Bee Gees, then relocated to Los Angeles, California in 1978. Though Greenberg's band Shadowfax, first formed in 1972, his success as a producer and artist was marked by his series of recordings, with Alex de Grassi and Will Ackerman, beginning in 1982 on the Windham Hill label. Shadowfax won a Grammy in 1988 for Best New Age Performance for '' Folksongs for a Nuclear Village''. This ground-breaking work combined jazz, rock, folk, and world music elements. Charles Roger Pomfret Hodgson (born 21 March 1950) is an English musician, singer and songwriter, best known as the former co- frontman and founding member of progressive rock band Supertramp. Hodgson composed and sang the majority of the band’s hits, including " Dreamer", " Give a Little Bit", " Take the Long Way Home", "The Logical Song", " It's Raining Again", and " Breakfast in America."
