''Arlette'' is a 1917 operetta in three acts by Austen Hurgon and George Arthurs with lyrics by Adrian Ross and Clifford Grey. Produced by George Grossmith Jr. and Edward Laurillard it was adapted from the French with music by Jane Vieu, Guy Le Feuvre and Ivor Novello. It opened at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London on 6 September 1917 where it ran for 260 performances. Blanche Eleanor Stocker (20 July 1884 – 1950) was a British actress and singer, who played minor roles in a string of Edwardian musical comedies and other stage works early in the 20th century. She also played a film role. Life and career Stocker was born in Bombay in India in 1884, the oldest of three children of a British couple, George Stocker (1857–1929), an engineer, and Mary Dunn ''née'' Johnston (1862–1946). While George remained in India for work, Mary returned to England with the children to live in London from at least 1891 to 1911. Her younger sister Doris Stocker was also a singer and actress. Frederick Strafford Moss (1 November 1868 – 1941) was a British tenor and actor. He appeared in the Savoy operas of Gilbert and Sullivan from 1897 to 1913, mainly in touring companies of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, following which he had a career in musical theatre on the West End of London, West End stage until 1931. Early years: joining D'Oyly Carte Moss was the son of Ruhamah Moss and civil servant William Burrowes Moss.
