Arizona State Route 82
State Route 82 (SR 82) is an east–west state highway in southern Arizona. The western terminus of Route 82 is located at its junction with Business Loop 19 (Grand Avenue) in Nogales and its eastern terminus at its junction with State Route 80 just north of Tombstone. Between Nogales and Patagonia, it is also known as Patagonia Road and Patagonia Highway. Other than the aforementioned locations, Route 82 also travels through Sonoita and Whetstone, and is one of the few major east–west highways in its service area. Route description State Route 82 (SR 82) begins as a semicircular ramp branching from the west side of State Business Route 19 (also known as SR 19 Bus. and Grand Avenue), crossing over the business route and turning northeast. State Route 90 (SR 90) is a highway in Cochise County, Arizona that runs from the I-10 junction at Benson to a junction with State Route 80 between Bisbee and Tombstone. It is a north–south route north of Sierra Vista, and an east–west route east of the city. It passes through the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area at milepost 329; the riparian area makes up a large part of the southern section of the San Pedro Valley. The U.S. state of Arizona's State Routes are usually abbreviated as SR. History The Arizona State Highway system was introduced on September 9, 1927, by the State Highway Commission (formed on August 11 of the same year). It incorporated the new federal aid system and also the U.S. Highway system. The 1927 plan included 27 state routes, most of which were simply dirt roads. Until 1942, the state route marker signs contained a Western use of the swastika in the early 20th century, Native American swastika that were used by Navajo Nation, Navajos, but were removed after the U.S.'s entry into World War II against Nazi Germany which had a reversed swastika as its emblem and became strongly negatively associated with the Nazis. Parker Canyon Lake
Parker Canyon Lake is located in southeastern Arizona, southwest of Sierra Vista around the Huachuca Mountains and about north of the border with Mexico. The lake is a reservoir formed by a dam in Parker Canyon in the south end of the Canelo Hills in southwestern Cochise County. Parker Canyon is a tributary to the Santa Cruz River in the San Rafael Valley. The facilities are maintained by Coronado National Forest division of the USDA Forest Service. Fish species Parker Canyon Lake is stocked with rainbow trout once a month from October to March. The lake was stocked with channel catfish which now hold a reproducing population. Arizona State Route 80
State Route 80 (SR 80) is a long, roughly arc-shaped highway lying in southeastern Arizona. Starting in downtown Benson, the highway serves as the main route through the towns of St. David, Tombstone, Bisbee and Douglas before terminating at the New Mexico state line, becoming New Mexico State Road 80 (NM 80). SR 80 also acts as the national southern terminus of US 191 near Douglas and provides the only connection between the U.S. Highway and its business route in Douglas. Both SR 80 and NM 80 were once part of U.S. Route 80, which traveled through Arizona between San Diego, California and Savannah, Georgia, starting in 1926. San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area
The San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area (San Pedro Riparian NCA; SPRNCA) contains nearly of public land in Cochise County, Arizona, between the international border with Mexico and St. David, Arizona. The riparian area, where some of the upper San Pedro River meanders, was, through the efforts of congressman Jim Kolbe, designated by Congress as a Riparian National Conservation Area on November 18, 1988, and assigned to the protection of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
