Arizona Sandsharks
Arizona Sandsharks was a U.S. indoor soccer team that played in the Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL). It was founded in 1992 and folded in 1997, along with the CISL. Club history The Sandsharks were founded on August 3, 1992, under the ownership of Jerry Colangelo, owner of the NBA's Phoenix Suns, as a founding member of the Continental Indoor Soccer League. Unfortunately, the 'Sharks were unsuccessful on the turf as the club missed the playoffs in all four of its seasons in the CISL. At the box office, the 'Sharks record was mixed: they did manage higher-than-league average crowds at America West Arena in three of its four seasons, but still only drew 5,331 fans per match. (Summertime indoor soccer proved not to be very lucrative, as the CISL itself averaged only 5,464.) Terry Woodberry
Terry Woodberry, also spelled as Terry Woodbury, (born September 9, 1963) is a former English-American football (soccer) midfielder who spent his entire career playing indoor soccer in the United States. He was also a member of the U.S. Futsal team which took second place at the 1992 FIFA Futsal World Cup. Player Youth Woodberry grew up in London, playing in the Chelsea FC youth system before moving to the United States to attend college at Southern Nazarene University. Woodberry first attended Southern Nazarene from 1981 to 1983 and then again from 1986 to 1987. He played two seasons of NAIA college soccer each during his two stints at the school. In 1986, he was an NAIA honorable mention All American and in 1987, he was a third team All American. Rick Soderman
Rick Soderman (born April 4, 1970) is a retired American soccer forward who played professionally in the Continental Indoor Soccer League, National Professional Soccer League and World Indoor Soccer League. In 1993, Soderman, older brother of Randy Soderman, signed with the Arizona Sandsharks of the Continental Indoor Soccer League. In the spring of 1995, he played outdoor for the Tucson Amigos of the USISL scoring the game-winning goal in overtime before rejoining the Sandsharks in mid-summer. In the fall of 1995, Soderman and his brother Randy both joined the Chicago Storm of the National Professional Soccer League. Randy Soderman (born May 1, 1974) is an American soccer player and technology entrepreneur. Early career Randy Soderman, the younger brother of Rick Soderman, grew up playing for CISCO Soccer Club in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1992, he graduated from Cactus High School. That year, he joined the Arizona Cotton for the 1992–93 USISL indoor season. Soderman attended Glendale Community College where he was a 1993 NJCAA Second Team All American. In the summer of 1994, Soderman played outdoors with the Arizona Cotton. Ronald Vernon Newman (19 January 1934 – 27 August 2018) was an English professional association football player and coach. He is a member of the American National Soccer Hall of Fame. Life Born in Fareham, Newman, after non-league football with Woking, played in the Football League with Portsmouth, Leyton Orient, Crystal Palace and Gillingham. While at Gillingham he became the second player ever to be introduced as a substitute in English professional football. In 1967 Newman came to the United States to play for the Atlanta Chiefs in the National Professional Soccer League (where he was team MVP in 1967), before being traded to the Dallas Tornado during the 1968 season.
