Ariela Freedman
Ariela Freedman is a professor at Concordia University, and author of several books. Freedman was born in Brooklyn, earned her Bachelor's degree at Concordia, returned to New York to earn her PhD at New York University. She would become the Principal of Concordia's College of Liberal Arts. Her 2014 book, ''"Death, Men, and Modernism: Trauma and Narrative in British Fiction from Hardy to Woolf"'', was a book of literary criticism. Her book focussed on Thomas Hardy, E.M. Forster, D.H. Lawrence, Ford Maddox Ford, Virginia Woolf and Katherine Mansfield. Her 2017 book, ''Arabic for Beginners'', was a novel, in spite of the name - an account of woman who joined her husband in Israel, and found a friendship with a Palestinian woman, which triggered her to learn Arabic. Molly Applebaum
Molly Applebaum (born Melania Weissenberg, October 27, 1930) is a Polish people, Polish-Canadian people, Canadian Holocaust survivor and diarist. Scholars describe how her diary addressed aspects of surviving the Holocaust that usually went unaddressed. According to Sara R. Horowitz, a Holocaust scholar, Applebaum wrote a memoir in 1998 and published an updated version when the wartime diary she maintained as a girl was returned to her around 2015. This provided scholars a rare opportunity to compare her recollection of events with her description of events recorded as they occurred. After Applebaum's mother heard rumors of conditions for Jewish people in the Nazi concentration camps, she negotiated arrangements with a farmer, named Victor Wójcjk, to hide her family on his farm. Concordia Journal
Concordia Seminary is a Lutheran seminary in Clayton, Missouri. The institution's primary mission is to train pastors, deaconesses, missionaries, chaplains, and church leaders for the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS). Founded in 1839, the seminary initially resided in Perry County, Missouri. In 1849, it was moved to St. Louis, and in 1926, the current campus was built. The St. Louis institution was at one time considered the "theoretical" (academic) seminary of the LCMS while Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne was considered the "practical" seminary, although those distinctions no longer exist. Concordia Seminary currently offers a Master of Divinity degree leading to ordination, as well as Master of Arts, Master of Sacred Theology, Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
