Arie Vardi
Arie Vardi ( he, אריה ורדי; born 1937) is a classical pianist, conductor, and piano pedagogue. He is laureate of the Israel Prize in 2017. Biography Vardi was born in Tel Aviv and graduated from the Rubin Academy (renamed the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in 2005) and earned a law degree at Tel Aviv University. He obtained a soloist diploma from at City of Basel Music Academy. Among his music teachers were Paul Baumgartner (piano), Pierre Boulez and Karlheinz Stockhausen (composition). Jerzy Jan Maksymiuk (born 9 April 1936) is a Polish composer, pianist and orchestra conductor. Personal life Maksymiuk was born in Grodno, Second Polish Republic (now Belarus). Daniel Gortler ( Hebrew: דניאל גורטלר) is an Israeli pianist and pedagogue. Education and early life Born and raised in Israel, Gortler began studying classical music and piano with Naomi Hachohen. Boris Leonidovich Giltburg ( he, בוריס גילטבורג, born June 21, 1984) is an Israeli classical pianist, born in Russia. Biography Giltburg was born into a Jewish family in Moscow, Russia, and began studying piano with his mother at the age of five. Yefim "Fima" Naumovich Bronfman (russian: Ефим Наумович Бронфман; born April 10, 1958) is a Soviet-born Israeli-American pianist. Biography Bronfman was born in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR, and immigrated to Israel at the age of 15. He became an American citizen in 1989. Bronfman's teachers were Rudolf Firkušný, Leon Fleisher, and Rudolf Serkin. He made his international debut in 1975 with Zubin Mehta and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1989 and gave a series of recitals with Isaac Stern in 1991. Nareh Arghamanyan ( hy, Նարե Արղամանյան; born in Vanadzor, Armenia, 1989) is an Armenian pianist. She is best known for winning the 2008 Montreal International Musical Competition. Biography Arghamanyan began her piano studies at the age of five. At the age of eight, she entered the Tchaikovsky Music School for Talented Children in Yerevan, where she studied with Alexander Gurgenov. In 2004, she became the youngest student to be admitted to the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna and studied with Heinz Medjimorec. David Zinman (born July 9, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY) is an American conductor and violinist. Education After violin studies at Oberlin Conservatory, Zinman studied theory and composition at the University of Minnesota, earning his M.A. in 1963.
