Aric Nesbitt
Aric Nesbitt (born January 25, 1980) is a member of the Michigan Senate, representing the Michigan's 26th Senate district, 26th district, which includes Van Buren County, Michigan, Van Buren County, Allegan County, Michigan, Allegan County, and Kentwood, Michigan, Kentwood & Gaines Township, Kent County, Michigan, Gaines Township in Kent County, Michigan, Kent County. He serves as the President pro tempore of the Michigan State Senate, and is the chairman of the Committee on Regulatory Reform and the Committee on Advice & Consent. He previously represented the Michigan's 66th House of Representatives district, 66th District in the Michigan House of Representatives and served as the Michigan Lottery Commissioner from 2017 to 2018. Michigan's 26th Senate District
Michigan's 26th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 26th district was created by the 1850 Michigan Constitution, as the 1835 constitution only permitted a maximum of eight senate districts. It has been represented by Republican Kevin Daley since 2023, succeeding fellow Republican Aric Nesbitt. Geography District 26 encompasses parts of Genesee, Lapeer, Saginaw, and Tuscola counties. 2011 Apportionment Plan District 26, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, stretched along the Lake Michigan coast in Allegan and Van Buren Counties and parts of Kent County. Michigan Senate
The Michigan Senate is the upper house of the Michigan Legislature. Along with the Michigan House of Representatives, it composes the state legislature, which has powers, roles and duties defined by Article IV of the Michigan Constitution, adopted in 1963. The primary purpose of the Legislature is to enact new laws and amend or repeal existing laws. The Michigan Senate is composed of 38 members, each elected from a single-member district with a population of between approximately 212,400 to 263,500 residents. Legislative districts are drawn on the basis of population figures, provided by the federal decennial census. Senators' terms begin immediately upon their election. Republicans hold the majority in the State Senate with twenty-two seats; Democrats hold the minority with sixteen seats. Kent County, Michigan
Kent County is located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 Census, the county had a population of 657,974, making it the fourth most populous county in Michigan, and the largest outside of the Detroit area. Its county seat is Grand Rapids.
