Allison Argo (born December 23, 1953) is an American film producer, director, writer, editor, and narrator. She is best known for her documentaries that focus on endangered wildlife and conservation. Her films have received awards including six National Emmy Awards. and the duPont-Columbia Award for journalism. In her early career as an actress, Argo performed on Broadway, in television, and in film. Her theatre roles included work as an original cast member in two Broadway theatre productions, and her work in television and film included roles in television movies and a major role in a TV series, along with recurring roles in two soap operas. In 1989, while on location in the state of Washington, Argo happened upon a gorilla caged as an exhibit in a shopping mall. This experience led Argo to produce and direct her first film, '' The Urban Gorilla'' (National Geographic 1992), about the lives of captive gorillas. Arthur Argo
Arthur Argo (1935–1981) was a Scottish traditional folk musician, promoter and collector and the great grandson of Gavin Greig. Argo came from a family with a rich traditional song heritage. Argo worked alongside Hamish Henderson collecting field recordings from the North East of Scotland and beyond. Argo, was a promoter of the work of Scottish folk artists and their music. After working as a journalist in the North East, from 1966 he worked for BBC Scotland, from 1973 as a producer with Radio Scotland. He produced the long-running radio series 'Fit Like Folk?', and 'The Reel Blend', a Scottish music series. He was the founder and president of the Aberdeen Folksong Club and published a series of folk song booklets in the 1960s called 'Chapbook'. Many musicians such as Aly Bain, Barbara Dickson, Jean Redpath and Billy Connolly cite Argo as a major influence and stepping stone in their early careers. Robert Eugene Argo Jr. (November 18, 1923 – July 7, 2016) was an American politician and insurance executive. An alumnus of the University of Georgia, Argo served in the Civil Air Patrol and later in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. Edwin "Ed" Yancey Argo (September 22, 1895 – March 10, 1962) was an American horse rider who competed in the 1932 Summer Olympics. Early life and education Argo was born in Hollis, Alabama, on September 22, 1895. He majored in electrical engineering from Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Career In 1932, Argo participated in 1932 Summer Olympics, finishing 8th with his horse Honolulu Tomboy. Military service He received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, and started school there in 1915. When World War One began, he dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army as a private on May 12, 1917. After the war, in 1919, he returned to the Military Academy and graduated as a second lieutenant. Argo Meresaar (born 13 January 1980 in Pärnu) is a former Estonian volleyball player who is currently the assistant coach of Bigbank Tartu. Career He was a member of the Estonian national team from 2000 to 2013. Meresaar started his career in hometown club ESS Falck Pärnu.
