''Arena'' is a live album by the English pop rock band Duran Duran, released on 12 November 1984 by Parlophone. In 2004, the album was reissued on CD in remastered form with two bonus tracks. ''Arena'' was Duran Duran's first live album, released at the peak of their commercial success in late 1984. It included one new song, the studio recorded " The Wild Boys", which as a single was a worldwide hit, reaching no. 2 in both the UK and the US. ''Arena'' was released together with a number of corresponding releases, including the conceptual concert film '' Arena (An Absurd Notion)'', a documentary tour book and a board game. An edited version of the film with just the live performances, '' As the Lights Go Down'', was also released. Duran Duran () are an English pop rock band formed in Birmingham in 1978 by singer Stephen Duffy, keyboardist Nick Rhodes and guitarist/bassist John Taylor (bass guitarist), John Taylor. Content "Careless Memories" has been described as "a classic hybrid of Euro-disco, new wave guitar pop and Bowie/Kraftwerk". "Planet Earth" is the debut single by the English new wave band Duran Duran, released on 2 February 1981. It was an immediate hit in the band's native UK, reaching number 12 on the UK Singles Chart on 21 February, and did even better in Australia, hitting number 8 to become Duran Duran's first top 10 hit anywhere in the world. The ''Spin Alternative Record Guide'' is a music reference book compiled by the American music magazine ''Spin (magazine), Spin'' and published in 1995 by Vintage Books. It was editing, edited by the rock music, rock critic Eric Weisbard and Craig Marks, who was the magazine's editor-in-chief at the time. The book has essays and reviews from a number of prominent critics on albums, artists and genres considered relevant to the alternative rock, alternative music movement. Contributors who were consulted for the guide include Ann Powers, Rob Sheffield, Simon Reynolds and Michael Azerrad. The book did not sell particularly well and received a mixed reaction from reviewers in 1995.
