Aremania
Aremania are a group of supporters of the Indonesian association football club, Arema FC. They are known for their fanaticism, and their rivalry against ''Bonek'', ultras of Persebaya. History The group came to prominence in the late 1990s, and Aremania name appears as a supporting community name Arema. They do not have a structure and a leader by following a term, "No leader, just together" since its inception. Before Aremania was established, Arema (as a club) founded its own fans association named ''Arema Fans Club'', but it folded due to lack of support from the people. Since then they have been praised for their input into Indonesian football and supporter culture and in 2006, they were awarded "The Best Indonesian Football Supporters" by Football Association of Indonesia. Super East Java Derby
Super East Java derby is the name given in football rivalries to any match between two Indonesian football clubs: Arema (Galatama) and Persebaya Surabaya (Perserikatan). The fierce competition between both teams began in 1992 when Arema and Persebaya Surabaya were grouped together in group A of 1992 Piala Utama (Premier Cup). Arema and Persebaya Surabaya were established on different era, at which Arema was formed in 1987, while Persebaya in 1927. 2022 Kanjuruhan Stampede
On 1 October 2022, a fatal human crush occurred following an association football match at Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang Regency, East Java, Indonesia. Following a loss by home side Arema to rivals Persebaya Surabaya, around 3,000 Arema supporters invaded the pitch. Police said the rioting supporters attacked the players and the team officials. The police attempted to protect the players and stop the riot but the crowds clashed with the security forces. In response, riot police units deployed tear gas, which triggered a stampede of people in the stadium trying to escape from the effects of the gas. A crush formed at an exit, resulting in fans being asphyxiated. As of 24 October, 135 people were killed, and 583 others were injured. The disaster is the second deadliest in the history of association football worldwide, after the 1964 Estadio Nacional disaster in Peru which killed 328 people. The 2022–23 Liga 1 season (also known as the 2022–23 BRI Liga 1 season for sponsorship reasons) will be the 13th season of the Liga 1, the top Indonesian professional league for association football clubs since its establishment in 2008. Kanjuruhan Stadium (Indonesian: ''Stadion Kanjuruhan'') was a multi-purpose stadium in Malang Regency, East Java, Indonesia. It was used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 42,449. Asphyxia or asphyxiation is a condition of deficient supply of oxygen to the body which arises from abnormal breathing. Asphyxia causes generalized hypoxia, which affects primarily the tissues and organs.
