Line 6 (Italian: ''Linea 6''; ) is a Naples Metro line that runs from in southeast Naples to in south-west Naples. Printed in blue on the map, it serves 8 underground stations, over . A light metro line, it is operated by ANM. History What was to become Line 6 was originally planned as a rapid tramway line (''Linea Tranviaria Rapida'', LTR) with some below ground tracts. Works started in the late 1980s. The first section was planned to be opened for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Since the ''Mergellina'' terminal station could not be completed in time the line was not opened and was left unused for many years. In the 2000s it was decided to complete the Mergellina station and to open the section that had already been built, but as a light metro without any connection with the tram network. Villa Comunale
The Villa Comunale is a park in Naples, Southern Italy. It was built in the 1780s by King Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies, Ferdinand IV (later known as Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies) on land reclaimed along the coast between the main body of the city and the small port of Mergellina. The park was originally a "Royal Garden", reserved for members of the royal family, but open to the public on special holidays such as the Festival of Piedigrotta. The park was opened to the general public on a permanent basis in 1869 after the unification of Italy. The park houses the Anton Dohrn aquarium, a renowned scientific institution built in the 1870s. The seaside road, via Francesco Caracciolo (naval officer), Caracciolo, which now lies between the aquarium and the sea, is another more recent reclamation project added to the city in 1900 to provide another connecting road between the city and the suburbs to the west.
