Arco (Renfe Operadora Service)
Arco was a commercial, locomotive-hauled passenger train service operated in Spain by Renfe on the Levante and Basque Country-Galicia lines. Routes The Renfe Arco services used to run on the following routes: * La Coruña / Vigo - Bilbao / San Sebastian - Hendaye (''Arco Camino de Santiago'') * La Coruña - Monforte de Lemos * Barcelona - Castellón - Córdoba - Sevilla / Málaga (''Arco García Lorca'') * Linares-Baeza - Granada / Almeria Until 2 May 2008, the trains were operating on the Mediterranean corridor, between Barcelona, Alicante and Murcia. There was also an Arco train service from Porbou / Cerbere (France) and Valencia Nord. On 10 September 2011 the Arco service on the route between Barcelona and Granada/Málaga/Sevilla/Badajoz (García Lorca) was replaced by the Alaris service. Renfe
Renfe (, ), officially Renfe-Operadora, is Spain's national state-owned railway company. It was created in 2005 upon the split of the former Spanish National Railway Network (RENFE) into the Administrador de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias (ADIF), which inherited the infrastructure, and Renfe-Operadora, which inherited the railway service. History The name "Renfe" (acronym of '' Red Nacional de los Ferrocarriles Españoles'') is derived from that of the former Spanish National Railway Network created on 24 January 1941 with the nationalisation of Spain's railways. As per EU Directive 91/440, Renfe was divided into Renfe Operadora (operations) and ADIF (infrastructure) on 1 January 2005. Alaris
Alaris was the brand name of the regional rail network run by the Spain, Spanish national rail company Renfe Operadora that connected the major cities of Madrid and Valencia, Spain, Valencia, and Barcelona and the main cities of the Valencian community, between 1999 and 2013. History In 2008, the service was partially provided with Renfe Class 120 / 121, Series 120 units, and since 2009 Renfe Class 130, S130 and Renfe Class 490, S490 units have been used interchangeably. Since September 12, 2011, two Alaris S490s have replaced the Arco (Renfe Operadora service), Arco García Lorca to Seville and the Arco to Malaga. A bogie ( ) (or truck in North American English) comprises two or more wheelsets (two wheels on an axle), in a frame, attached under a vehicle by a pivot. High-speed Rail In Spain
High-speed railways in Spain have been in operation since 1992 when the first line was opened connecting the cities of Madrid, Córdoba, Andalusia, Córdoba and Seville. Unlike the rest of the Iberian gauge, Iberian broad gauge network, the Spanish High-speed network mainly uses standard gauge. This permits direct connections to outside Spain through the link to the French network at the Perthus Tunnel.
