Architekti Pro Bono
Architekti Pro Bono (English: ''Architects Pro Bono'') is an initiative of Czech architects run by the Czech Chamber of Architects, providing pro bono architectural advice and services to disaster victims and disadvantaged people, communities and organizations. Clients contact member architects directly, either by phone or via their website. According to their circumstances, clients will receive adequate assistance, from simple advice to complete architectural services. Purpose To provide free or discounted architectural advice and services to disaster victims and disadvantaged people, communities and organizations. An architect is a person who plans, designs and oversees the construction of buildings. To practice architecture means to provide services in connection with the design of buildings and the space within the site surrounding the buildings that have human occupancy or use as their principal purpose. Jiri Lev
Jiri Lev (born 1979, , cs, Jiří Lev) is a Czech-Australian architect and urbanist, active in the field of sustainable residential, sacred and public architecture, disaster recovery and humanitarian development. Lev's works are known for their highly varied, regionally specific and contextual architectural style, and frequent use of natural, raw and locally sourced construction materials, such as timber, stone, hempcrete, canite or clay and lime products (Gulgong Holtermann Museum, Courtyard House, Tasmanian House). Architects Assist (AA) is a national organisation of Australian architects, other built environment professionals and students providing pro bono disaster recovery and resilience advice to individuals and communities affected by natural disasters, such as bushfires or floods, or other adverse circumstances. The organisation operates under the umbrella of the Australian Institute of Architects. History Architects Assist was launched on 4 January 2020 by architect Jiri Lev in response to the 2019-20 Australian bushfires disaster, as a "platform for equitable access to sustainable and resilient architecture". By 7 January hundreds of architecture firms, sole practitioners and student volunteers had registered as members and the organisation started receiving first assistance requests from bushfire victims. 2021 South Moravia Tornado
A rare, violent, and deadly long-tracked tornado struck several villages in the Hodonín and Břeclav districts of the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic in the evening of 24 June 2021, killing six people and injuring at least 200 others. The tornado struck seven municipalities, with the worst damage in the villages of Hrušky, Moravská Nová Ves, Mikulčice and Lužice. This tornado was the strongest ever documented in modern Czech history and the deadliest European tornado since 2001. It was rated as an F4 on the Fujita scale. This made it the first confirmed violent (F4+) tornado in Europe since July 2015, when an F4 tornado struck the towns of Dolo and Mira in Italy.
