Archibald Crofts
Archibald "Archie" Crofts (9 September 1875 – 20 May 1942) was an Australian politician, business owner and sports figure. Crofts was born in Secunderabad, British India to soldier Benjamin Crofts and Jane Hemhilswood, raised in Victoria and educated in Adelaide, before becoming a merchant. In 1905, he owned and ran a grocery in South Melbourne, which he expanded to include 137 branches throughout Victoria and the Riverina as Crofts Stores, as well as subsidiary interests in the wholesale grocery, manufacturing grocery and wholesale dairy produce trades. Crofts was heavily involved in sporting endeavours, including Victorian Football League (VFL) club South Melbourne, horse racing and lawn bowls.'' Secunderabad
Secunderabad, also spelled as Sikandarabad (, ), is a twin city of Hyderabad and one of the six zones of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in the Indian state of Telangana. It is the headquarters of the South Central Railway zone. Named after the Mir Akbar Ali Khan Sikander Jah, Asaf Jah III, Nizam of the Asaf Jahi dynasty, Secunderabad was established in 1806 as a British cantonment. Melbourne South Province was an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Council. It was created in June 1904 when Melbourne Province was reduced in size (four members down to two) and North Yarra Province and South Yarra Province were abolished. Frank Beaurepaire
Sir Francis Joseph Edmund Beaurepaire (13 May 1891 – 29 May 1956) was an Australian distance freestyle swimmer from the 1900s to the 1920s, who won three silver and three bronze medals, from the 1908 Summer Olympics in London to the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. He was also a decorated politician and businessman, serving for ten years in the Victorian Legislative Council and as Lord Mayor of Melbourne and building a multimillion-dollar tyre business empire, Beaurepaires and Olympic Tyres. Frank Clarke (Australian Politician)
Sir Francis Grenville Clarke (14 March 1879 – 13 February 1955) was an Australian politician. He was born in Sunbury to grazier William John Clarke (later Sir William Clarke, 1st Baronet) and Janet Marion Snodgrass. His grandfather William John Turner Clarke had been an early member of the Victorian Parliament, while his father had also served in the parliament. His brothers Sir Rupert Clarke and Russell Clarke and nephew Michael Clarke were also MPs. Frank Clarke attended Scotch College, the University of Melbourne, and Oxford University, becoming a grazier with widespread properties. Brigadier Harold Edward Cohen, (25 November 1881 – 29 October 1946) was an Australian soldier, lawyer and, like his grandfather Edward Cohen, a Victorian State politician. Early life Cohen was the son of Montague and Annie Cohen and born in St Kilda, Melbourne. He married Freda Pirani on 4 December 1907, and they had two sons and two daughters. Cohen was educated at Xavier College where he was the first Jewish boy to attend the school. He was School Captain in 1898 was President of the Old Xaverians Association from 1919-1920.
