Arbën Xhaferi
Arbën Xhaferi (; 24 January 1948 – 15 August 2012) was a Macedonian politician of Albanian origin. Xhaferi was president of the Democratic Party of Albanians, an ethnic Albanian political party, and was an advocate of rights for ethnic Albanians in the country. He is best known for calling for a change in the Preamble of the Constitution. Life Arbën Xhaferi was born in Tetovo, FPR Yugoslavia (now North Macedonia), on 24 January 1948 to a Kosovar family with Turkish connections, where he attended primary and secondary school. In 1968, he participated in student protests in the city after his uncle, a tailor, attempted to practice his right to fly an Albanian flag but an ethnic Macedonian forcibly removed it. He studied in Belgrade University's Faculty of Philosophy. Xhaferi spent most of his life in Pristina. He built a reputation as an art critic there and became a senior editor in Pristina television. Macedonian Parliament
The Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia is the unicameral legislature of North Macedonia. According to the Constitution, the Sobranie represents the people and is vested with legislative power. It can have between 120 and 140 MPs (currently 120), elected by proportional representation from 6 electoral districts, each contributing 20 MPs, and there are also 3 reserved seats elected from the Macedonian diaspora which are awarded only if the voter turnout was sufficient. MPs are elected for a term of four years and cannot be recalled during their term. The Sobranie is presided over by a President. Its organization and functioning are regulated by the Constitution and Rules of Procedure. Constitution Of North Macedonia
The Constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia ( Macedonian: Устав на Република Северна Македонија, ''Ustav na Republika Severna Makedonija''; Albanian: ''Kushtetuta e Republikës së Maqedonisë së Veriut'') is a codified constitution outlining North Macedonia's system of government and basic human rights. It was adopted in the Parliament of the then-Republic of Macedonia on 17 November 1991. In 2001 it was announced that the country had adopted amendments to its Constitution which enshrined 15 basic amendments and has granted rights to the country's ethnic Albanian population, as part of the Ohrid Agreement. R 6 Motorway (Kosovo)
The R 6 Motorway (; Serbian: ''Autoput R 6''), also commonly ''Autostrada Prishtinë-Han i Elezit'' and ''Autostrada Prishtinë-Shkup'' or ''Autostrada Arbën Xhaferi'', is a motorway in Kosovo running in the districts of Ferizaj and Pristina. The motorway connects Pristina with Skopje in North Macedonia. The motorway is named in honour of the Albanian politician and activist from North Macedonia, Arbën Xhaferi. Part of the Southeast European route 6 and European route 65, it consists of two traffic lanes and an emergency lane in each driving direction separated by a central reservation. Parkinson's Disease
Parkinson's disease (PD), or simply Parkinson's, is a neurodegenerative disease primarily of the central nervous system, affecting both motor system, motor and non-motor systems. Symptoms typically develop gradually and non-motor issues become more prevalent as the disease progresses. Menduh Thaçi (; born 3 March 1965) is a Macedonian politician of Kosovo Albanians, Kosovan Albanian descent. He is the leader of the Macedonian political party Democratic Party of Albanians. Thaçi was born in Tetovo and his parents were both Albanians from Kosovo, he is the fifth of six children. His family are from the Thaçi (tribe), Thaçi tribe. Fadil Sulejmani (; 5 December 1940 – 11 February 2013) was an Albanologist, university professor and the first rector of the University of Tetova. Party For Democratic Prosperity
The Party for Democratic Prosperity or PDP (; ) is an ethnic Albanian political party in North Macedonia. The party was formed in April 1990 and is currently led by Abduladi Vejseli. From 1992 to 1998, the PDP was part of the coalition governments led by the SDSM. After the split of the radical wing from the party in February 1994, PDP was generally considered to be moderate party that could cooperate with Macedonian parties, although sometimes frictions between the PDP and the other government parties arose as a consequence of the ethnic questions. For example, the party leadership criticized the 1991 Census for allegedly underreporting the percentage of the population that was Albanian from 40% to only 21%.
