Accounting Principles Board
The Accounting Principles Board (APB) is the former authoritative body of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). It was created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 1959 and issued pronouncements on accounting principles until 1973, when it was replaced by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). The APB was disbanded in the hopes that the smaller, fully independent FASB could more effectively create accounting standards. The APB and the related Securities Exchange Commission were unable to operate completely independently of the U.S. government. According to the SEC, "the overall record of the APB was a reasonably good one, but it seems likely that a smaller full-time body directly in control of its research holds promise of more success". Ann Arbor station is a train station in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States that is served by Amtrak's ''Wolverine'', which runs three times daily in each direction between Chicago, Illinois and Pontiac, Michigan, via Detroit. History The present-day station was built in 1983, as a replacement for the original 1877 Michigan Central Railroad-built depot, which the new station directly neighbors. The old depot was sold in 1969 to the C.A. Muer Corporation, by its original owner the Penn Central Transportation Company. In science and technology, an arbitrary unit (abbreviated arb. unit, '' see below'') or procedure defined unit (p.d.u.) is a relative unit of measurement to show the ratio of amount of substance, intensity, or other quantities, to a predetermined reference measurement. The reference measurement is typically defined by the local laboratories or dependent on individual measurement apparatus. It is therefore impossible to compare "1 arb. unit" by one measurer and "1000 arb. unit" by another measurer without detailed prior knowledge on how the respective "arbitrary units" were defined; thus, the unit is sometimes called an unknown unit.
