Aras Iskanderovich Agalarov (; ; born 8 November 1955) is an Azerbaijani Russian billionaire real estate developer. Listed in Forbes as the 51st richest Russian in 2015, several sources have described him as a Russian oligarch. Early life Born in Baku, Agalarov was educated at the Azerbaijan Polytechnical Institute. There, he studied computer engineering and was a member of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan and Baku City Committee. Career Agalarov then opened the first Crocus Inter store, which became a retail business that includes malls offering housewares. The Crocus City Hall () is a music venue in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is part of the Crocus City development, which also includes the Crocus City Mall, Crocus Expo and . It is dedicated to Muslim Magomayev (1942–2008), a Soviet singer born in present-day Azerbaijan. The venue was developed by Crocus Group, owned by Aras Agalarov, and opened on 25 October 2009. The venue has been closed since the Crocus City Hall attack on 22 March 2024, which killed at least 145 people, and whether or not it should reopen is being debated. Crocus refers to brightly colored, seasonal flowers that grow in the spring from a bulb. The venue had a capacity of as much as 10,000 people.
