Arab Cup
The FIFA Arab Cup (), or Arab Cup, is an international association football competition organized by FIFA. It is held every four years with the participation of senior men's national teams of the Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA), the governing body for countries in the Arab world. The current champion is Algeria, which won its first title at the 2021 tournament in Qatar. The championship's inaugural edition was in 1963, held in Lebanon, which was won by Tunisia national football team, Tunisia. After having been played in 1964 Arab Cup, 1964 and 1966 Arab Cup, 1966, the Arab Cup was halted for almost 20 years, before being contested in 1985 Arab Cup, 1985. The Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA; ; ) is the governing body of football in the Arab League. Established in 1974, UAFA is an independent body comprising 22 member associations: twelve from Asia and ten from Africa. UAFA organises a number of competitions, most notably the Arab Cup for national teams (which has been organised by FIFA since 2021) and the Arab Club Champions Cup for club teams. The Palestine Cup () was a football competition which was held between countries in the Arab world. The tournament ''de facto'' acted as the replacement for the Arab Cup during the long interruption between 1966 and 1982, it held on three occasions in Arab countries in the 1970s. The first edition was held in 1972 in Iraq. History The cup was established in 1972 at the initiative of Said al-Sabeh, president of the Supreme Council for Palestinian Youth Welfare. The aim of the initiative was to create a new Arab championship that would reunite sport in the Arab countries, as well as with the aim of proving Arab affiliation and support for the Palestinian cause. Nassif Majdalani
Nassif Majdalani (; 10 October 1913 – 8 January 1988) was a Lebanese sports journalist, radio and television presenter, as well as president of the Lebanon Football Association (LFA) – which he helped found in 1933 – between 1946 and 1949. He is the youngest president in the LFA's history, aged 33 when he assumed office.
