Arab Basketball Confederation
The Arab Basketball Confederation (ABC) is a basketball association for countries in the Arab world. It organises the Arab Basketball Championship for national teams in the men and women categories, as well as club championships. History It was founded in 1956 with nine founding members: Lebanon, Tunisia, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Tunisia, Libya, Sudan, Algeria and Egypt. The first president was Azer Ishak from Egypt and the headquarters were agreed to be Beirut in Lebanon. Cairo
Cairo ( ; ar, القاهرة, al-Qāhirah, ) is the capital of Egypt and its largest city, home to 10 million people. The Arab world ( ar, اَلْعَالَمُ الْعَرَبِيُّ '), formally the Arab homeland ( '), also known as the Arab nation ( '), the Arabsphere, or the Arab states, refers to a vast group of countries, mainly located in Western Asia and Northern Africa, that linguistically or culturally share an Arab identity. The Arab Basketball Championship for Men ( ar, البطولة العربية لكرة السلة للرجال) or simply ABC is a regional basketball tournament which takes place every two years between men's national teams of the members of the Arab Basketball Confederation, representing the Arab world. The 24th edition scheduled in the UAE will take place from 9 to 16 February 2022. Basketball Organizations
Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. After a foul, timed play stops and the player fouled or designated to shoot a technical foul is given one, two or three one-point free throws.
