Aqua (band)
Aqua is a Danish-Norwegian eurodance band, best known for their 1997 single " Barbie Girl". The group formed in 1995 in Copenhagen and achieved international success around the globe in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band released three albums: '' Aquarium'' in 1997, '' Aquarius'' in 2000 and '' Megalomania'' in 2011. The group sold an estimated 33 million albums and singles, making them the most profitable Danish band ever. The group managed to top the UK Singles Chart with three of their singles. The group also caused controversy with the double entendres in their " Barbie Girl" single, with Mattel filing a lawsuit against the group. The lawsuit was finally dismissed by a judge in 2002, who ruled "The parties are advised to chill". Grøn Koncert
Grøn Koncert (literally "Green Concert") is an annually recurring series of Danish one-day music festivals. Taking place in July, the concerts are performed by a selection of bands who tour around Denmark for about ten days. The concerts have been held every year since 1983, always with mostly or exclusively Danish artists. The concerts are arranged by Muskelsvindfonden, a Danish support organisation for muscular dystrophy sufferers; the practical work for the concerts is done by several hundred people from "Det Grønne Crew", Muskelsvindfonden's concert volunteer group. Claus Norreen
Claus Norreen (born 5 June 1970) is a Danish musician known for being a part of the pop band Aqua, which sold around 33 million records. He left the band in September 2016 to take on other musical ventures. Biography Norreen was born in Charlottenlund, near Copenhagen. One of his biggest interests was electropop music. Hence, he bought a keyboard and started playing industrial techno. When he finished school he started to work in his sisters' clothing store. The work in the store inspired him and influenced his style of music. In 1989, he met Søren Rasted and moved his music instrument to his residence. Claus married Danish journalist Siggy Norreen (née Madsen) in 2001. Their son Elliott was born in February 2003. The couple have since separated. ''Aquarius'' is the second studio album by Danish–Norwegian band Aqua. The album was released on 28 February 2000 by Universal. Singles The lead single, " Cartoon Heroes", peaked at number one in Denmark and Norway, reached number 7 in the UK in February 2000 and later received top 10 positions globally except for the US where it failed to chart on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The second single, " Around the World", also peaked at number one in Denmark, but only made number 26 in UK and did not sell highly in most regions. "Barbie Girl" is a song by Danish-Norwegian dance-pop group Aqua. It was released in April 1997 by Universal and MCA as the third single from the group's debut studio album, ''Aquarium''. The song was written by band members Søren Rasted, Claus Norreen, René Dif, and Lene Nystrøm, and was produced by the former two alongside Johnny Jam and Delgado.
