Apure State
Apure State (, ) is one of the 23 States of Venezuela, states of Venezuela. Its territory formed part of the provinces of Mérida (state), Mérida, Maracaibo, and Barinas (state), Barinas, in accordance with successive territorial ordinations pronounced by the colonial authorities. In 1824 the Department of Apure was created, under jurisdiction of Barinas, which laid the foundations for the current entity. In 1856 it separated from Barinas and for the first time Apure appeared as an independent province, which in 1864 acquired the status of state. In 1881, however, a new territorial division combined Apure and Guayana Region, Guayana to form a single state named ''Bolívar.'' In 1899 it reestablished its autonomy and finally, by means of the Constitution of 1909, gained its current borders. The territory was famous for heron plumes, which adorned European courts. Apure Province
Apure Province (17 July 1823 - 1864) was a province of Gran Colombia, and later one of the provinces of Venezuela, after Venezuelan independence in 1830. It was created in 1823, being split from Barinas Province, with the Uribante River and Apure River marking the border. The following year, Gran Colombia was reorganised into four Departments, with the Apure Department consisting of Apure Province and Barinas Province. Its capital was Achaguas, for which the Province was sometimes called ''Achaguas Province''. It became the state of Apure with the creation of the States of Venezuela in 1864. It was founded on 15 February 1786, with territory formerly part of the Maracaibo Province (Spanish Empire), Maracaibo Province. Maracaibo Province (Venezuela)
Maracaibo Province was a historical region of Venezuela that corresponds roughtly to the actual Zulia State. The eighteenth century geographer Antonio de Alcedo mentions Maracaibo as one of the cities of the Venezuela Province, a jurisdiction of the vice-royalty of New Grenade. In 1777, the Crown of Castile reforms its American territories among which that of the contemporary Venezuela. The creation of the Capitania General of Venezuela englobes Cumana, Maracaibo, Guayana, Trinidad and Margarita that is an important portion of the Caribbean region of the vice-royalty of New Grenade. In 1812, in the Cortes de Cadiz, the province of Maracaibo is represented by José Domingo de las Nieves Rus y Ortega de Azarraullía. La Blanquera
La Blanquera (''Palace of the Blanco family'') is a Spanish Colonial building in the city of San Carlos in Venezuela. This house was built by a wealthy family of cattle ranchers from the lands of Andalucia, Spain by the name of Blanco y Salazar during the second half of the 18th century. This house is white and has Baroque decorative features including columns with aborigines wearing feathered headgear. According to the traditional story, Don Joseph Blanco y Salazar built and used this house as a place of retirement for him and his family after the pacification of the Apure aborigines. The Kalinago, also called Island Caribs or simply Caribs, are an Indigenous peoples of the Caribbean, Indigenous people of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean. Apure River
The Apure River is a river of southwestern Venezuela, formed by the confluence of the Sarare and Uribante near Guasdualito, in Venezuela, at , and flowing across the Llanos into the Orinoco. It provides significant transportation in the area. Origin Most of the streams that ultimately form the Apure originate in the Venezuelan highlands of the Cordillera de Mérida and only some minor affluents of the Sarare River come from the Cordillera Oriental in the Colombian Andes, entering Venezuela at the confluence with the Oirá River which has a very narrow and steep valley and forms the border between the two countries for .
