Aprilia RS50
The Aprilia RS50 is a sport moped made by Aprilia. The model made until 2005 was powered by a single cylinder two-stroke aluminium cylinder block, liquid cooled Motori_Minarelli AM6 engine. The new model, made since 2006, uses a single cylinder two-stroke aluminium cylinder block, liquid cooled engine made by Derbi, the D50B0, also known as the derbi NT engine. The bike is popular in countries that have restrictions on motorcycle engine size at specific ages. In restricted form the RS50 is capable of speeds of , as per the laws in many European countries for those aged 16. In derestricted form, the 1997 model was tested at a speed of . History Early days Aprilia, named after the Pre-war automobile, pre-war Lancia Aprilia, was founded after the Second World War by Cavaliere Alberto Beggio as a bicycle production factory at Noale, Italy, in the province of Venice. Alberto's son, Ivano Beggio, took over the helm of the company in 1968 and constructed a 50 cc "motorcycle". The first production Aprilia mopeds were named Colibrì, Daniela, and Packi. Aprilia later produced a motocross bike in 1970 called the Scarabeo. Produced until the end of the 1970s, the Scarabeo came in 50 and 125 cc versions. Honda NSR50
The A-AC10 Honda NSR50 is a motorcycle produced by Honda Motor Company. It was offered in a street legal format in several countries including Japan, France, Spain and more. It was also offered as an off-road use race bike variant in both Japan and the USA. The USA received it as a one-year only 2004 model designated as an NSR50R. In Japan it was offered in both 2004 and 2009 as the NSR Mini. The NSR50 was released on May 29, 1987. Important factors in its development were Suzuki Motor Co, Ltd's release of their GAG, a 50cc full fairing mini racer replica, as well as Yamaha Motor releasing their own version, the YSR50. Both quickly enjoyed popularity in mini-bike and circuit racing. Two-stroke Motorcycles
A two-stroke (or two-stroke cycle) engine is a type of internal combustion engine that completes a power cycle with two strokes of the piston, one up and one down, in one revolution of the crankshaft in contrast to a four-stroke engine which requires four strokes of the piston in two crankshaft revolutions to complete a power cycle. During the stroke from bottom dead center to top dead center, the end of the exhaust/intake (or scavenging) is completed along with the compression of the mixture. The second stroke encompasses the combustion of the mixture, the expansion of the burnt mixture and, near bottom dead center, the beginning of the scavenging flows. Derbi GPR 50
Derbi is a manufacturer of motorcycles, scooters, mopeds and recreational all-terrain vehicles produced by Nacional Motor S.A.U., currently integrated into the Italian (2009) Piaggio Group. History Derbi's origins began with a little bicycle workshop in the village of Mollet near Barcelona, founded in 1922 by Simeó Rabasa i Singla (1901–1988). The focus remained the repair and hire of bicycles until May 1944 when Rabasa formed a limited liability company named Bicycletas Rabasa with the aim of moving into manufacturing bicycles.
