Appemidi Mango
The 'Appemidi' mango, is a mango cultivar primarily grown in Malenadu region of Karnataka, India. Appe midi is the variation of the same name. Appemidi varieties include Ananta Bhattana, Kanchappa, and Karnakundala. Name The word "Appe midi", translating to "Tender Mango" in the Kannada language, is the king of all tender mangoes for its use in the South Asian pickle industry. Appemidi mangoes, grown along the riverbeds of the Aghanashini, Bedti, and Sharavati, are celebrated for their exceptional suitability in making mouthwatering pickles known popularly as 'Appe midi Uppinakayi'. ''Mangifera'' is a genus of flowering plants in the cashew family, Anacardiaceae. It contains 64 species, with the best-known being the common mango ('' Mangifera indica''). The 'Kari Ishad' mango, is a mango cultivar primarily grown in the Ankola and Karwar talukas of Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka, India. Description The mango breed is well known for its luscious taste, unique aroma, generous amount of pulp, shape, and size. Ishad mango has two varieties, Kari Ishad (thin skin) and Bili lshad (thick skin but with less pulp and is less sweet). Kari Ishad mangoes are characterized by their impressive size and shape typically growing large and assuming an oblique-oval shape. A mature tree can yield up to 2000 fruits in a single season.
