''Appassionatamente'' (i.e. "Passionately") is a 1954 Italian melodrama film directed by Giacomo Gentilomo and starring Amedeo Nazzari and Myriam Bru. It is loosely based on the drama play ''La Dame de Saint-Tropez'' by Auguste Anicet-Bourgeois and Adolphe d'Ennery. Giacomo Gentilomo
Giacomo Gentilomo (5 April 1909 – 16 April 2001) was an Italian film director and painter. Biography Born in Trieste, at very young age Gentilomo moved to Rome, where at 21 years old he entered the cinema industry, working as a script survivor and an assistant director. Active between 1933 and 1937 as a film editor, in 1939 he debuted as a director with ''Il Carnevale di Venezia''. In 1945 his film ''O sole mio'' got critical acclaim, but later his career was mainly devoted to genre films, and failed to achieve significant critical interest. Dissatisfied with cinema, in the mid-1960s Gentilomo decided to abandon films and to fulfill his passion for painting. Adolphe D'Ennery
Adolphe Philippe d'Ennery or Dennery (17 June 181125 January 1899) was a French playwright and novelist. Life Born in Paris, his real surname was Philippe. He obtained his first success in collaboration with Charles Desnoyer in ''Émile, ou le fils d'un pair de France'' (1831), a drama which was the first of a series of some two hundred pieces written alone or in collaboration with other dramatists. He died in Paris in 1899. Maria-Pia Casilio (5 May 1935 – 10 April 2012) was an Italian film actress, best known for major roles in '' Umberto D.'' and '' Un americano a Roma''. Born in San Pio delle Camere, L'Aquila, Casilio was quite active between 1952 and 1960, usually filling roles as a querulous and naive small-town girl. Vera Carmi (23 November 1914 – 6 September 1969) was an Italian film actress. She appeared in more than 50 films between 1940 and 1956. She was born in Turin, Italy and died in Rome, Italy. Life and career Carmi was born Virginia Doglioli in Turin. Amedeo Nazzari (10 December 1907 in Cagliari – 5 November 1979 in Rome) was an Italian actor. Nazzari was one of the leading figures of Italian classic cinema, often considered a local variant of the Australian–American star Errol Flynn. Although he emerged as a star during the Fascist era, Nazzari's popularity continued well into the post-war years. Early career Amedeo Nazzari was born as Amedeo Carlo Leone Buffa in Cagliari, Sardinia, in 1907 and he later adopted as his professional name the name of his maternal grandfather, Amedeo Nazzari, a magistrate who had been the president of the Court of Appeal of Vicenza in Veneto and later took the same position in Cagliari.
