Apeksha
''Apeksha (The Hopes)'' is a 1978 Sri Lankan film directed by H.D. Premaratne and starring Malani Fonseka and Amarasiri Kalansuriya. The film, the director's second feature, was his real breakthrough. Plot Niranjala ( Malini Fonseka), a member of the English speaking elite, and Nimal ( Amarasiri Kalansooriya), a young university graduate, regularly meet at the gas station where he works. They are attracted to each other, and over time, start meeting outside of the station's confines. One of these occasions occurs at Niranjala's university fair. Nimal comes to meet her, but during the fair, one of Niranjala's friends is attacked by a gang of men. Nimal and his close friend Pradeep ( Robin Fernando) help the friend get out of trouble. Later, when Nimal returns to the gas station, this gang of men come after him, and the fighting leads to the gas station owner firing Nimal. Pattiyage Robin Steven Fernando (born 15 June 1937 – died 8 January 2022 as රොබින් ප්‍රනාන්දු in inhala, popularly as Robin Fernando, was an actor in Sri Lankan cinema and television as well as a stunt coordinator. Don Sirisena (born 1934 – died 1986 as :si:දොන් සිරිසේන, දොන් සිරිසේන) [Sinhala]), was an actor in Cinema of Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan cinema and theater. One of the most popular comedy artists ever in Sri Lankan film history, Sirisena had a career spanned about three decades acted more than 150 films. Career Sirisena started cinema career in 1964 with the film ''Sobana Sitha''. Since then, he continued act in more than 150 films particularly as the supporting comedian with other popular comedy actors of his era such as Freddie Silva, B. S. Perera and Wimal Kumara de Costa. Wilson Karunaratne, popularly known as Wilson Karu (28 October 1942 – 3 May 2022) was an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, and stunt director. Considered one of the best villains in Sinhala cinema, Karunaratne acted in more than 240 films across many genres primarily as main antagonist. Personal life Wilson Karu was born on 28 October 1942 in Colombo, Sri Lanka as the second child of the family with four siblings. He had one elder brother, one younger sister and one younger brother. He completed education from Lumbini College, Colombo. During young ages, he played football, cricket, gymnastics, wrestling, judo and karate. The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP; , PLF) is a Marxist–Leninist political party in Sri Lanka.
