Ančka Gošnik Godec
Ančka Gošnik Godec (5 June 1927 – March 2025) was a Slovene illustrator. She illustrated over 120 children's books as well as school textbooks. Life Gošnik Godec was born in Celje in 1927. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana and lived and workd in Ljubljana. She won the Levstik Award for her illustrations twice, in 1960 and 1964, as well as the same award for lifetime achievement in illustration in 2001. She was also nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award The Hans Christian Andersen Awards are two literary awards given by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), recognising one living author and one living illustrator for their "lasting contribution to children's literature". Celje (, , ) is the List of cities and towns in Slovenia, third-largest city in Slovenia. Levstik Award Laureates
Fran Levstik (28 September 1831 – 16 November 1887) was a Slovenes, Slovene writer, political activist, playwright and critic. He was one of the most prominent exponents of the Young Slovene political movement. Life and work Levstik was born in 1831 in Dolnje Retje (now part of the municipality of Velike Lašče) in Lower Carniola (then part of the Austrian Empire, today in Slovenia) in a peasant Slovenes, Slovene family. Levstik was the first notable writer of Slovene epic prose. Among his most known works are the short tale ''Martin Krpan, Martin Krpan From Vrh'' (), which became a classic work of Slovene literature, and the Travel literature, itinerary ''A Journey from Litija to Čatež'' (), the main objective of which is a literary manifesto. Hans Christian Andersen Award
The Hans Christian Andersen Awards are two literary awards given by the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), recognising one living author and one living illustrator for their "lasting contribution to children's literature". The writing award was first given in 1956, the illustration award in 1966. The former is sometimes called the "Nobel Prize for children's literature". The awards are named after Hans Christian Andersen, a 19th-century Danish author of fairy tales, and each winner receives the Hans Christian Andersen Medaille (a gold medal with the bust of Andersen) and a diploma.
