Anya Amasova
Major Anya Amasova (a.k.a. Agent XXX) is a fictional character in the 1977 James Bond film '' The Spy Who Loved Me'', portrayed by Barbara Bach. Amasova is an agent of the KGB. Biography After the theft of a submarine, M (Bernard Lee) recalls James Bond (Roger Moore) from a mission where he is currently in a cabin located in Austria (in the novelisation, on the Aiguille du Mort, a mountain near the town of Chamonix). While leaving Bond is ambushed by a Russian team, but is able to kill one of them in self-defense prior to parachuting off the mountain. Unbeknownst to Bond, the agent he killed is Agent Anya Amasova codename XXX (Barbara Bach)'s lover Sergei Barsov ( Michael Billington). Q is a character in the James Bond films and novelisations. Q is the head of Q Branch (later Q Division), the fictional research and development division of the British Secret Service charged with oversight of top secret field technologies. Q (standing for quartermaster), like M, is a job title rather than a name. The use of letters as pseudonyms for senior officers in the British Secret Service was started by its first director, Captain Sir Mansfield George Smith-Cumming (1859–1923), who signed himself with a C written in green ink. Atlantis () is a fictional island mentioned in Plato's works '' Timaeus'' and ''Critias'' as part of an allegory on the hubris of nations.
