Antwerp (Chamber Of Representatives Constituency)
Antwerp is a parliamentary constituency in Belgium used to elect members of the Chamber of Representatives since 2003. It corresponds to the province of Antwerp. The constituencies for the Chamber of Representatives are set by Article 87 of the Electoral Code of 1894. The number of representatives per constituency is set every ten years based on population numbers. The current distribution of representatives is set by royal order of 31 January 2013. The Chamber of Representatives ( Dutch: , french: link=no, Chambre des représentants, german: link=no, Abgeordnetenkammer) is one of the two chambers in the bicameral Federal Parliament of Belgium, the other being the Senate. It is considered to be the " lower house" of the Federal Parliament. Members and elections Article 62 of the Belgian Constitution fixes the number of seats in the Chamber of Representatives at 150. There are 11 electoral districts, which correspond with the ten Provinces (five Dutch- and five French-speaking) and the Brussels-Capital Region. Christine Van Broeckhoven (born 9 April 1953) is a Belgian molecular biologist and professor in Molecular genetics at the University of Antwerp ( Antwerp, Belgium). She is also leading the VIB Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Antwerp of the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology ( VIB). Christine Van Broeckhoven does research on Alzheimer dementia, bipolar mental disorders and other neurological diseases. Jan Penris
Jan Penris (born 12 January 1964, Mortsel) is a Belgian politician of the Vlaams Belang party who sat as a member of the Flemish Parliament and then the Chamber of Representatives. Biography Penris graduated in law at the University of Antwerp in 1987 and later a degree in maritime studies. He became active in the Flemish nationalist Nationalistische Studentenvereniging student group at this time and served as its president. After graduating he worked in a business capacity for the Port of Antwerp. Jan Jambon (born 26 April 1960 in Genk) is a Belgian politician of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) who has been serving as Minister-President of Flanders since 2019. He replaced Kris Peeters as a member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives in 2007. The N-VA was, at that time, partnered with the Christian-Democratic and Flemish party. Gerolf Emma Jozef Annemans (born 8 November 1958) is a Belgian lawyer, journalist and politician of the Flemish nationalist party Vlaams Belang (VB) and formerly of its predecessor, the Vlaams Blok. Florentinus Ludovicus Leopoldus Eduard ("Flor") Van Noppen (28 June 1956 – 22 September 2014) was a Belgian politician who was affiliated with the N-VA.
