Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland Jr. (born February 23, 2002) is an American football defensive end for the Virginia Tech Hokies. He previously played for the Florida Gators. High school career Powell-Ryland attended Indian River High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. He was selected to play in the 2020 Under Armour All-America Game. He committed to the University of Florida to play college football. College career After appearing in two games his first year at Florida in 2020, Powell-Ryland played in 12 games in 2021 and had five tackles and 1.5 sacks. In 2022, he played in all 13 games with five starts and recorded 29 tackles and three sacks. Defensive End
Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. History Early formations, with six- and seven-man lines, used the end as a containment player, whose job was first to prevent an " end run" around his position, then secondarily to force plays inside. When most teams adopted a five-man line, two different styles of end play developed: "crashing" ends, who rushed into the backfield to disrupt plays, and "stand-up" or "waiting" ends, who played the more traditional containment style. The Under Armour High School All-America Game is a high school football all-star game typically held in early January in the U.S. state of Florida created to spotlight the nation’s top high school seniors. The game was first played on January 5, 2008, and has been played annually at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida or at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The game is sponsored by Under Armour and enjoys a national audience thanks to broadcast partner ESPN (the first edition was broadcast on ABC opposite the U.S. Army All-American Bowl). The NCAA transfer portal is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) application, database, and compliance tool launched on October 15, 2018, to manage and facilitate the process for student athletes seeking to transfer between member institutions. The transfer portal permits student athletes to place their name in an online database declaring their desire to transfer. Athletes enter the portal by informing their current school of their desire to transfer; the school then has two business days to enter the athlete's name in the database.
